I just personally don't like hard frozen chocolate pieces in ice cream. Ruins the texture for me.

I'll say Blue Bell is my favorite ice cream. I won't say it's the best. Of course the heavier cream less airated stuff is better. Ben and Jerry's makes a great product. My issue is, points don't last like Half gallons.
Rather the BB.

Bumping this post because I came home to a bowl of BB Oatmeal cream pie and it really might be my favorite flavor now.

(I like odd flavors, current favorite Black Walnut)

Sorry, man. I like Blue Bell just fine, but the truth is that the quality compared to the premium ice creams isn't that great.

I have to agree. Blue Bell is the one I eat the most, but I never understood the overjoyed love for Blue Bell.

Plus, the company has a tremendously disgusting record of years of blatant food safety issues that would cause any other company to shut down. Remember when they had to stop making their ice cream for months? It was because they didn't clean their equipment, yet almost everyone said they were loyal to the brand and couldn't wait for it to return.

To each their own. I don't hate them, I just don't understand the cult mentality.

My best guess is that it was the ‘local name brand’ for most of us in this area growing up, so it’s more nostalgic than anything else, and it’s definitely a step up from most store brands. It’s still cheaper than B&J’s and several other brands, but you’re correct that the quality is not the same

I've enjoyed our half gallon, but it's not our favorite.

Cookies and Cream and Butter Crunch remain the kings in our household.

Agree about the local brand. That’s exactly the reason, just still strange how people act like there’s no other brand.

The cookie cake ice cream they had a few years ago had to be the best I ever had. That one was damn good.

What is a premium ice cream? Ben & Jerry’s? Tillamook?

Do you have examples?

Way to focus on that one thing. Hey, my carrot came from a bioengineered seed stock, so this rancid soybean oil has got to be fine.
