My birthday is coming up and I want to try a restaurant I haven’t been to. I want to find a place that goes beyond the plain steak and asparagus or buttered fish scene. Something unique with some finesse. After looking at some menus, I’m considering Mansurs, Maison Lacour, Rouj Creole, and Little Village (airline). Which do y’all prefer out of those? Any others I should consider?

Love Robertos but want to try something new
Over LA lagniappe
Solera was overpriced for the portions
SoLou was a 6/10
Haven’t been to Beausoleil but heard the portions didn’t match the price

Swagat also has my attention

Best deal in BR. All you can eat plus s’mores, apple cobbler, and cinnamon pizzas

Same situation. Been to all of them. If you like French, Maison Lacour (might be my choice next week) is the best you'll get in BR. Mansur's (or French Market Bistro, both good but I've had better meals at Mansur's) is always good. Rouj Creole has been hit and miss for me. I refuse to go to Little Village downtown ( and by association Airline). Rather go to Nino's, Digiulo Brothers or Gino's for Italian.

For Indian, Swagat is good for lunch, but for dinner I would go to Bayleaf, better ambience. Or you could try Soji and have choices of Asian (Indian, Japanese, Thai, ...)

Ninos, for sure. Husband and wife with a seasonal menu. Good people, good service, and incredible food.

Bldg 5 is a nice time. Be sure you aren't in a rush. There can be a wait at times.

Beausoleil's new pivot is good, but expensive.

I would take Little Village out of consideration and I've never been to Maison Lacour but of the ones you listed, I would put Mansurs above Rouj.

Others to consider that I'd rank ahead of Mansur's:
Nino's
Zorbas
Soji
Palermo
Houmas House
St. Francisville Inn

If you're going w/ a group of more than two, I would consider Bldg 5 but if it's just two of you, I'd scratch that.

Me and my SO's birthday spot is always Nino's. If I had to choose a second spot I guess I would go with Ruth's.

Zorbas

It's been a while since we've been, but Zorbas is always a great meal. Plus most of the authentic Greek dishes hit a niche that can't quite be found in other restaurants in BR.

Maison Lacour
Zorba’s
Nino’s.

All three are also owned by husband/wife teams and do a great job.
