Fact is, New Orleans does not really have a "fine dining" Italian place at this point.
You wouldn’t consider San Lorenzo “fine dining”

I haven't been. I was only thinking of places I've been. Looks like it could probably fit the bill (from the pics online, I think it might be the only white tablecloth place listed here). Thanks for the correction.
Every other place listed would fit under sort of upscale casual at most.

Upscale casual is pretty much the way of the world now. I think most of the better restaurants out there are doing that.
Saint Germain is probably upscale casual and it’s likely the best in the city. If they were uptown and threw some table clothes on the table it would be “fine dining”.

I understand. I've been out to eat. Just haven't made it to San Lorenzo.

This list is objectively a fairly sad appraisal.
New Orleans is not a very good Italian food city, imo.

I'd put Sal's up against anyone when it comes to Italian. The Nicholas Sauce, alone gives him an unfair advantage

lol this is funny.
Compared to the rest of the south, you boys are the all stars.
Enjoy your parochial medal.

Went to San Lorenzo last night first time
It was excellent
Will be returning - probably the best Italian I’ve had in the city and the atmosphere was good too
