Since not everyone likes finished whiskies, I’d second the EHT Single Barrel idea. The presentation in the tube makes it fun, it’s not always readily available and it’s a really good pour.

At that price range, I usually try to rustle up a few bottles of Cuban run (Havana Club) for gifts. It's not too hard to come by--basically just find someone in Canada or England who is willing to buy and ship it to you.

It has been a few years, but I was usually able to get a half dozen bottles shipped to me for around $300 or so (i.e., $60/bottle). It's sort of illegal, so it makes an unique gift for a close friend/acquaintance. And, it's damn good liquor.

I usually drink it straight. Speaking of which: I need to go check the liquor cabinet. BRB.

Jeffersons ocean is a great gift imo. Most people won't buy it for themselves but the story is great for a gift.

Because it's a boring whiskey and overpriced.

Since you said unique, I'm going to recommend Balcones Brimstone. It's the smokiest whiskey I have ever had.

Redbreast 12 Cask strength is my favorite $80 bottle

Or go for a Bottle of Old Forester 1920 for $50 and a McKenna 10 for $30

Campfire is a good choice.

I’d go with Elijah Craig Barrell Proof at that price point.

My best shelf buy of the year has been Little Book Batch 2. Retails $75-90 locally. Made by Bookers and packaged in a black box. May be able to find one around you.

A blend of 40 year old Canadian whiskey, 13 year old Canadian Rye and 8 year old Kentucky Straight Rye. Caramel, vanilla and a hint of baking spice.

I don't drink it I just thought the story was cool. Good to know that it is not tasty. I have a good friend that drinks Lagavulin 16 exclusively.
