I have to make a trip to BR tomorrow afternoon to pick up a piece of furniture and need a good place to pick up some quick food. What is best place to order something to go? I know it's not ideal but I am pressed for time and cannot sit down to eat.

You're willing to brave the loopless Baton Rouge traffic to get the best to-go order out there, no matter the location, but you can't sit down to eat? What if it's near your furniture pickup? Your fact pattern is suspect.

Are you headed back to Alexandria? I'd stop at Billy's or Kartchner's, me.

If I was in north Baton Rouge, I'd get a chopped beef from Jay's or a sandwich from Anthony's. Perhaps Lebanese

If I was in Sherwood Forrest, I'd go to Egg Roll King, if it was still in operation.

What about a nice bowl of soup?

Point of order from a BR old-timer: street addresses change from North to South along North Blvd from the River out to Foster Drive, then the line jumps to Florida Blvd.

Therefore Mid-City Jay's is firmly ensconced in South Baton Rouge... by about three blocks.

Jay's is still quite good for a simple sandwich. Get at least two.

I am going to dinner in Nola tomorrow evening so I have to be back home in time to change and head out. Just need a quick place to grab a bite to eat. I will be on Burbank to pick up the piece of furniture.

Stockyard Cafe, Tony’s Seafood, Raul’s, or Bellue’s if you’re north of Florida. I also recommend Philly Dat Up inside the Cortana Wal-Mart and Montalbano’s Seafood.

Off the Hook, Serop’s Express, and Cork’s all have solid drive-throughs in the middle of town. You could also order to-go pretty quickly from Iverstine or Anthony’s.

New York Pasta & Pizza, Dempsey’s, and Jasmine’s on the Bayou are your best options on the East side of town.

Raul’s, Inga’s, American Market, Fin Bomb, Izzo’s, or Cheba Hut are good options closer to LSU.

If closer to the Siegen area: Okki Tokki, General Tso’s, Riverside Patty, La Tienda, or Chickie Sandos.

Burbank and College intersection has tons of options. Check out Cheeba Hut for good hot sandwiches. Haven't been in a while, but Am Mart on Nicholson had good poboys and pitas.

So sounds like something you can eat with your fingers while driving. You can always get a fried seafood platter from somewhere like Parrin’s.

Also, though, if thinking more fast food, I tried Off the Hook in BR a few months ago, needed to be quick and eat on the road like you. Their fried catfish was very damn tasty.

The one on Burbank closed....Corporate BLVD is still open and you are right....everything Ive tried there is excellent. Really punches above its weight imo for fast food.

My favorite permanent menu item is the burger with grilled chicken added (I can’t remember what they call it).

When they have them, get the birria eggrolls. All of their eggrolls are incredible, but those are a cut above.

Roul's is delicious, but it is smack in the middle of campus with no parking lot of its own, and school is in session and tomorrow is the Friday before a home game (albeit a smaller home game than last week). Nothing about it will be quick even if to-go.

There’s another Raul’s on Plank and one in Gonzales on 44. There’s even a food truck version in Houma. If you check my post, you’ll see I mentioned Raul’s twice. There was good reason for that.

I am not familiar with BR but do you really think it'll be that busy the day before the game at like 1:30-2 pm?
