Best Supermarket Sushi in Lafayette? If not sushi, what?

My best friend was supposed to provide a cold shrimp appetizer for a baby shower I’m hosting on Sunday. This evening she let me know that she is sick and won’t make it to the shower. I have no time to make anything between now and the shower because tomorrow will be filled with all of the last minute errands and setting up, so I’m thinking of picking up some sushi to fill in the gap. Is that a terrible idea?

Is there supermarket sushi in Lafayette that you’d serve to guests? Or should I just go with the food already planned? (A 3’ x 2’ charcuterie board, chicken salad sandwiches, fried chicken tenders, a boudin/boudin ball/meat pie tray, cake, cookies, cupcakes, Easter candy.) About 30 people expected, co-ed shower.

ETA: I don’t know how to throw a shower! My mom would be appalled by the rules of etiquette I am breaking.

Ain’t nobody got time for that. Well, I don’t. I’m too busy last minute panicking.

ETA: Sorry for being rude.

Question #1: do your guests even like sushi....your friend is bugging out on a cold shrimp dish that is presumed to be acceptable to the group.

Check Sushi Masa or Tokyo Live or Tsubaki or Tsunami to see if they can make some sushi options available to you in their off-hours to accommodate you.

Supermarket sushi is okay, but I don't know your audience.

I would probably look for a crab or shrimp dip + crackers/baguettes.

Possibly Joey's?

I don't think I'd serve supermarket sushi. And ordering a party tray from a sushi restaurant would probably be pricier than it's worth.

Can’t go wrong with a sushi burrito from Poke Geaux

Do they have Costco in Lafayette? They always have party size containers of cold boiled shrimp with cocktail sauce. I think I’ve seen smaller tubs of cold boiled shrimp at Whole Foods, Fresh Market and Rouses.

Most of the guests are my daughter-in-law’s friends, so I don’t know all of their tastes.

I haven’t even told her yet about the change in menu. She has been very easy going about any of my suggestions. She will be laid back about it. I’m the worrier.

Good suggestions. I wish tomorrow wasn’t already going to be so busy.

Sounds good for a person or two, but pricey for a crowd!

I don’t care for the boiled shrimp at Costco. Maybe I’ll investigate what the others have. Thanks.

Joey’s usually requires 24 hours notice and they aren’t open on Sundays. I think I’ll call right when they open tomorrow and see about some of their tasso deviled eggs and a couple of their dips. Thanks!

Mmmm. That sounds good.

I made 72 deviled eggs last weekend for a potluck lunch... lots of work.

Tasso would be a nice addition.

One of the Albertsons has sushi that’s pretty good. They can make a party tray if you call a day ahead.

I think it’s the one at Amb and Congress

Joey is very accommodating, so hopefully they can help out.

Joeys was a very good suggestion. There’s also Graze which does fruit boards and charcuterie boards. Check them out online.

Nosh is already scheduled to deliver a large grazing board. I hope it’s as good as the pics provided!

Couldn’t get the deviled eggs from Joey’s. The kitchen staff isn’t in on Saturdays. I bought some dip and shrimp salad to eat on crackers.

I didn't find Albertson's sushi to be very good. Now Adrien's has a sushi "chef" on site in the deli area that makes pretty good sushi for a grocery store.

Adrien's is made in house right by the deli and he'll do most anything you want if you give him enough time to get all the ingredients you want
