I am cooking my favorite squirrel recipe tonight, Squirrel and Dumplings. I will try to remember to take pics tonight, and I will share the recipe tomorrow.

You posted in a thread about squirrel recipes how you don't eat them. That's for all intents and purposes hating on guys that do.

My experience is that people don't like squirrel only because they know what it is. Rabbit has more meat, but wild rabbit and squirrel I'd call BS if someone said they could tell the difference in a blind taste test especially with the normal methods of cooking it fried, stewed, or with gravy.

Wrong. Assuming you're talking about wild rabbit.

Squirrel sashimi.

I remember that show "1000 Ways to Die" that would play on AMC or something like that about 10 years ago. One of the episodes was contracting and dying of rabies as a result of eating squirrel cooked rare.

Well found your problem right there. You’re not supposed to cook the squirrel when making sashimi.

I love to hunt squirrels, but I'm not incredibly fond of eating them. It's not because they are a glorified tree rat, but because of many tiny bones. I always end up half chocking on them

I picked a bunch and stuffed them in to croissants for the bama game last year. Was piss drunk and swallowed a bone that id missed. Was on my way to meet Jesus. Thankfully I was drinking with an EMT and a firefighter. Was a scary experience.

Quit cooking the meat off the bones. If you have that much trouble don't use the back and ribs.

Correct. Always remove the ribs. And cook till tender, not fall off the bone. Especially if your using the back bone.

Man of all the ways to go, choking to death on a squirrel crescent role is just slightly better than accidental auto-erotic asphyxiation.

Glad you made it, baw
