Rag's in Mandeville had an awesome roast beef po-boy back in the day. Not sure about how it is today.

Specifically, I was talking about the roast beef from Frostop that no one here ever had - and it is amazing.

But, then others made it their own and began telling about great roast beef po boys from obscure places that no one had ever heard of.

So, win all around. Great comments.

The Frostop in Metairie has a damn fine RB poboy. Not sure if it's the same has the one in Miss.

Magic Grill in North Mecca. Dressed traditionally, buttered poboy loaf toasted on a flat top, sliced beef, served with a cup or two of gravy for dipping. It's legit...better than Parkway, at least. I prefer debris style myself.

This thread is not a welcome read on a Friday during Lent.

Dammit, guess I'll just go to confession. . .

Rag's closed a while back. There was a kitchen fire and they have never reopened.

I am pretty sure Bear's in Mandeville is closed too.

Bear's in Covington is one of the best, but I think Pontchartrain Po-Boys in Mandeville has the best I've ever had.

They put one in metairie ~5 years ago and it was on point for awhile until they got voted top poboy in town by the paper. After that things started going down hill. Prices went up and quality went down. I refuse to buy poboys there now. They also have or had one in Henry's on magazine but I found it to be too salty the one time I went there.

You mean the place behind Gennaro's bar sort of under the Causeway overpass?

I think it's still pretty good, if so. I find you have to ask them to go light on the mayo, though, they will put WAY too much on it.

Basically all good poboys are expensive these days.

I can, I meant regarding a roast beef. They've put out a great sandwich at numerous locations, it just doesn't go downhill over night. Do you think they stopped cooking their beef different? What's different? Idk

I live 3 blocks away, it's always been good to me

I've noticed a difference between that Bears, the NS, and the one in Henry's. The NS is better IMO. The metairie one goes crazy with the mayo. I've found that the poboy as gotten smaller over the years too. My bread is always jacked up and I've even been served cold RB more than once. I use to take customers there all the time and even they have mentioned the same things about it not being as good.

I just took it out my roatation and now fill that void with Rivershack..
