Doe's is a great restaurant but it's not in the middle of nowhere. It's in the middle of downtown Greenville. Be careful. The security guard wears a bullet proof vest.

First time at Spahr's, a few years ago, I really liked it. Last two times, it was terrible. I might give it another try, but I'm in no hurry.
I know it gets a lot of mixed reviews on here, but I still think Middendorf's does what they do, better than anyone else, and by a long shot. I love the place.

Toupsy's Cajun Eatery in Port Fourchon. They cook a bomb-arse filet.

Can't agree with this. True it is better then what is nearby, it is still terrible. If you like food salty and fried it is the way to go.

Roberto's qualifies as middle of nowhere for me, and it's pretty good...

Not as good anymore and not so out of the way as a result of sprawl, but as a kid I use to love going to The Loveless Cafe outside of Nashville. It was a half an hour drive outside of town and seemed like an eternity to me. Mmm, fried chicken livers and home fries with a plate of biscuits and blackberry preserve. I can still taste it all.
I was back home a few years ago and took my girlfriend. I had built up this legend in her mind, only to get out there and find it had sold-out. At least the biscuit and preserves recipes are still the same.

Leatha's BBQ in Hattiesburg. It's in the middle of no where out on # 98 West of HB behind a RV sales joint. Keep on going a few miles W and you will run up on Bret Favre's place on the left.
Leatha's BBQ Inn @ 6374 Hwy. 98, Hattiesburg, MS. 601 - 271 - 6003.

Leatha's is awesome, but it's not in the middle of nowhere. It's practically in the suburban hood of Oak Grove
