Covington - Gallagher's, Del Porto, Meribo, Lola, and Annadele's Plantation are consistently good. So is Mattina Bella (breakfast and lunch). I haven't been but hear that Tavi is quite good.

Madisonville - I've always had good meals at Keith Young's and Impastato Cellars.

Mandeville - I like Viet Kitchen quite a bit, though, it is a very casual place. Others favorites are Cafe Lynn, Nuvolari's, Sal & Judy's, and Pat Gallagher's 527. Pontchartrain Po-boys is great if you like fried seafood and sandwiches but I rarely eat that style of food any longer.

In the last 15 years, the north shore food scene has improved exponentially. IMO, there are many good examples of local Louisiana food, Italian, Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese but it lacks quality BBQ, Mexican, and Middle Eastern food. Enjoy.

I was disagreeing with your statement.

I few on the list that are better than Pardo's in no particular order:
527
Leonardo Trattoria
Cafe Lynn
Bosco's
K. Youngs
Sal and Judy's
Hell, I'd even throw Fazzio's and Impastatos as good as or better than Pardo's.

I agree with you. My favorite is Gallagher's (which is the same as 527) on 21 in Covington. I ate lunch at Leonardo's in Mandeville for the first time and it was a very pleasant surprise. Would recommend especially for a casual lunch.

I ate at Pardo's when it was located on 21 a pretty long time ago. I was not impressed. I have not given it another shot since they moved to their new location across Beau Chene. I should give them another try.

I would avoid Impastato's on 22. I have given Impastato's 3 tries and have been disappointed every time. Not impressed with them at all. For Italian, as you listed I would stick with Bosco's and Sal and Judy's, and add Leonardo's to the list.

If you find a nice afternoon Rest-A-While is worth a shot on the lakefront. Good combination of food/atmosphere/day drinking on a nice day.

Leonardo's is a good find too.

Yeah Keith young’s, a steak house with a lasagna special and tilapia on the menu. Get real.
