Posted by Message snake23 Best po boy in Nola? well you can tell him that i dont like Ruffino's. food is decent but their service is absolutely terrible. probably the worst service at a restaurant of that caliber that ive ever been to.

I have been to Ruffino's probably 10+ times and have never had a problem with service. I always thought the service was pretty good. Food was good every time.

Ruffin, I'm gonna hand you this in all sincerity, we've met before and I've seen you at work both on a regular night and on a special event night.

And honestly - no blowing smoke here - I have never seen a restauranteur who tries harder to aim to please with the public. I mean that in all sincerity.

I think that explains why a non-fan on a message board bugs you Don't take it too hard. Your place is big enough and well enough known where you aren't going to win 'em all over.

Don't worry about it. Every now and then somebody's going to be unfair. Every now and then, somebody might have just not enjoyed it. Can't win 'em all.

So having said that, what's your favorite New Orleans po-boy?

I'm sitting in D watching a reggae band having a ball my man. Just don't want somebody dogging my place while I'm gone. Thanks for the love! Just had a call from the joint and we served 300 tonight on a Tuesday. Not to shabby.

If you have a problem with the restaurant just call me and let me know. Don't hind behind a keyboard. My name is Ruffin. 225-938-0908. Very easy call. I'm always available. Coach Miles calls me every day. I ain't scared

Dude, people are going to have opinions. I went through this with the owner of a restaurant. Not everyone is going to like your food or service. You don't need to pull a Jay and Silent Bob and try and track down all your critics.

What Po-boys do you guys offer? I haven't been since it was Dinardo's.

I'm not going to lie. This used to bug me when I had my own place in Baton Rouge. Sometimes people would say some crazy things on the Internet about my place. It's hard to blow it off if you are really giving it your all.

Goshdang that looks good. That isn't part of the agenda for our little day trip, but right now, it looks tempting.

Somebody made a thread about Ruffino's so I commented with my opinion based on my personal experience. Maybe my experience was the exception, not the norm. Perhaps I should try again. But whatever just happened in this thread with the katy perry troll is just weird.

To me, message boards are a reflection of what people say in private company. There are things you'd say amongst friends that you wouldn't say in public. Some you would, but in a different way, and some you would.

Well, on a message board, you're shooting straight like you would among friends because it feels like an "among friends" situation.

So for somebody being discussed, it's useful in that way because before, you might not ever hear the criticism, fair or not.

I'm also in a sector that gets discussed on this board and believe me, some of the stuff that gets said is flat wrong. I might correct it if it's factually flat wrong and it's doing harm, but opinions, you just have to roll with. The key is, don't be confrontational.

For example, let's say I'm Governor Jindal (I'm not, but let's say) and somebody came on here and said he cut funding for widgets when in reality, funding for widgets was cut at the federal level. I might have the misconception cleared up, but I'd only say "Jindal didn't cut widgets, congress did," and provide a link. I'm not going to start questioning agendas and whatnot. (edit to add: Probably a bad example because I HOPE governors don't patrol message boards to check facts...but you get the gist)...

Does no good to confront board posters.

For shrimp this would be my list:

1a)Castnet Seafood in NO east
1b)Guy's Poboys
2) Johnny's Poboys downtown-this one is also close to the two I have ranked above it, might even be able to be 1c
3) Parkway
4) R&O's
5) Crabby Jacks

Now I haven't tried every spot in New Orleans but I have tried about 10-15 more than what is on this list.

Domileses Shrimp
Guy's
Parasols (Tracey's RB is terrible)
Ye Olde College Inn Fried Green Tomatoes w/ Shrimp
Crabby Jacks

Have not tried Parkway yet.

ETA: Very interesting thread BTW. Love finding little gems like this tucked away.

It was a joke. And two of my favorites aren't even on your list.
