Brasas Peru (in that location) on Perkins Road near Essen is surprisingly good. I read about the place on TD and tried it out with a group of friends. One had the seafood risotto, I had chicken with rice, gravy, plantains, french fries and fried egg.. everyone liked the empanadas, which are huge.
If it's not what you're looking for this time, definitely put it on your list.

This is a helpful thread. I’ll be in BR next week and have to pick a place for one dinner.

They’ve got the best chargrilled in BR, not even close.

I recommend for those from out of state LSU Chimes or Parrains for casual. Louisiana Lagniappe for dinner. LL is the best restaurant in BR IMO.

Bldg 5 under the Perkins overpass next to the old Chelsea's has become my favorite place in town.
Eliza on Jefferson not far from Bocage is usually pretty good too.

I love the food at roux 61. It gets packed quick. I prefer to go to the one in Natchez because it isn’t much further from my house. I don’t think the downvotes are for food quality.

This. The retard that consistently replies with Walkons needs to be banned.

I don't live in BR but when I visit I try to hit Sammy's Grill on Highland. I am surprised it doesn't get more love on this board.

Willie’s is one of our favorites. Plus Dempseys a little farther down Coursey.
Don't forget Jasmine's on the Bayou on Jones Creek

I only went to Bldg 5 once - food was decent but there were flies everywhere and I just can't bring myself to go back.
I do enjoy Eliza, though.

I think Elsie’s is maybe one of the best if not the best restaurant in BR right now.
I've eaten there 3x and have been underwhelmed each time. I mean it was OK, but it certainly didn't blow me away. I guess it's just not for me.

Cecelia's Creole Bistro downtown is very good. Everything I have eaten there has been top notch.
Capital City Grill downtown.
Louie's by LSU. Probably the best burger in town and, of course, the hash browns.
Ruby Slipper on Perkin's/Lee for breakfast (Another Broken Egg as well).
Mike Anderson's
Parrain's
Louisiana Lagniappe is a can't miss.
