Not the case here though. I do know the owner for what it’s worth, but he definitely took his time and set his operation up right. Give it a try, or don’t. I’m just here to throw in the fact that their pizza is really good.

It’s definitely good advertising (especially after reading the OP)
From the pics it doesn’t look like my style but I’ll try it eventually and hope they do well

Well like I said, I'm planning on riding down there tomorrow, and I will give my honest opinion. I'm also going to pick one up from Fratelli's.

We enjoyed a supreme pizza from Fratellis last night. It was delicious.

Probably one of my favorites

Well, today is Judgment Day, and as promised, I took the 30-minute drive to pick up a pizza from Diversion Pizza. In addition, I also picked up a pizza from Fratelli's, since there were some posters who mentioned how good it was.
Now before I get down to the actual tasting, I just want to point out that I am a very strict judge of pizza. It's my favorite food, I grew up in the Northeast, I worked in the business for several years, and I've eaten thousands of pizzas from coast to coast, as well as in Naples and on the Amalfi coast. Anyway, let's get down to business.
I placed the pizzas side-by-side; Diversion Pizza is on the left, and Fratelli's is on the right. The first thing I noticed was that Diversion had noticeably more cheese. However, more isn't necessarily better; some of the best pizzas I've ever eaten were also some of the most simplistic.
I decided to try a slice of the Fratelli's pizza first. I'm sorry to those of you who are fans of this, but this pizza was the epitome of the word "mediocre." The sauce was tasteless, and I could tell that the pizza had been baked in the same oven (and likely at the same time) as other dishes that they serve, because you you could taste the essence of the other dishes in the pizza, if that makes sense. Honestly, I'd rate this pizza pretty low on my personal scale.
Next I sampled a slice from the Diversion Pizza pie. At first bite, I was pleasantly surprised. The cheese had a nice butteriness to it, the sauce was good, and the crust, while perhaps not as amazing as some have made it out to be, was solid. After eating one slice, I grabbed a second... and then a third, and then a fourth. The more I ate, the more I enjoyed it. Overall it was a very good pizza, and while I don't think it's the best in the state -- there are a few places in New Orleans that can stake claim to that title -- I'd definitely say that it's worth a try if you're in that vicinity. I'd rate it up with my favorite in the area, NY Pizza on Jones Creek. The thing is, those two are closer to me, and therefore more convenient in my case.
I will add that saying it's the best in the Southeast US, as someone said earlier in the thread? Well, that's just dumb.

Doesn’t look better than pizza shack
Bread and circus is good but not better than the shack either.

I get Pizza Shack every time I go to the racetrack. As a matter of fact I went there just a couple weeks ago and got a Tony's Special. It's different, and I like it. Pizza Shack puts very little cheese on their pizzas, which isn't a bad thing, in their case. Diversion isn't similar to that at all... totally different style. Both are good in their own way.
One that is somewhat similar to Pizza Shack - and slightly better, in my opinion - is West Main Pizza in Houma. Only problem is, their pizzas cost twice as much as Pizza Shack.

Yeah I like less cheese. Sometimes we get extra cheese and it is too much.

Cheese pizza? That’s juvenile in my opinion.
Why not put some tasty morsels on the pizza and then judge them?

solid review
honestly the pizza on the right “looks” better and goes to show you that judging taste by a picture is also dumb

I went today to Diversion. It was a good pizza. The crust is not the best in my opinion as I like a thinner crust but it was good. Toppings were good. I did notice that when I left, I didn't have the "I'm full" feeling. So as I think someone already said it was a light crust, which I definitely like. My wife had a side salad she said it was excellent, but that's not the point of my post. Everyone at the shop there did a great job. Hopefully they can keep it up for the long term. I hope they do well.
While I agree it was a good pizza, it sure is not the best in the state by any means.

When I do a taste test, I prefer to keep it simple. A pizza shouldn’t need a bunch of toppings to make it taste better.

That picture doesn’t look good tbh. Looks like pizza hut
Posted on 6/27/21 at 7:55 pm to diat150
It didn't taste like Pizza Hut at all. Eating leftovers right now.
Posted on 6/27/21 at 8:21 pm to diat150
Well a general consensus from those who have been is that it is really good pizza. You’re making an assumption based on a picture. Seems silly.

Next to try: the Detroit style at Reginellis.

C’mon man. One bite. Everybody knows the rules. Good review though. I’m going to have to try the one on Jones Creek next weekend
