Steak 48 needs to be on the list.

I eat at steakhouses for work a couple of times a month. Like others have mentioned, nothing has unseated Pappas for me.

Pappas took bone marrow off of their menu, but if you call a day in advance they can do it for you. Steak topped with bone marrow in my favorite way to eat it.

Damn guys, thanks for all the input. I had made reservations at V&A but I will probably change that to Pappas. Headed there for Chris Stapleton in March and trying to line up a special night. Appreciate all the suggestions

Where are you staying? If downtown I would recommend taking the rail to and from the rodeo vs. trying to drive and park or uber. There is a pappas downtown also, but the one on westheimer is the original. Both have the same menu but most people prefer the original.

Been to Pappas and Maestros a number of times. Asked a Houston local for a tip on something different. Suggested Killens STQ. Was really different and good

Not sure when you visited. Was really good when it first opened but in subsequent trips the quality fell quickly.

No hotel booked yet but I’m assuming downtown. Any recs on that too?

I have a buddy in Houston and this is where he always recommends going when we are in town.

Pappas Bros
B&B Butchers
Federal American Grill (more casual setting)

Is the Vic and Anthony’s in Houston better than the one in the LC casino? I have been to the casino one twice and it was forgettable both times.
It's like everything else in the Landry's Empire. Good, not great, and overpriced.

Perry’s gets my vote.
Perry's is not the best. It's not Top 5.
But Perry's is a great place for a casual steak that is several steps above Saltgrass/Longhorn/Outback.
And Pork Chop Friday is one of the top 3 things I miss about living in Houston (along with H-E-B and House of Pies)

I guess also depends on what you want to spend. I don’t like the galleria area personally but hotel zaza, marriot marquis, JW Marriott downtown, land caster, and Icon are nice. I think the four seasons is overpriced. The post oak uptown in the galleria is supposed to be the biggest and baddest. I’ve never stayed there.

Pappas Bros has the best restaurant steak I've had

The vic's downtown is phenomenal, I prefer it over pappas. Their crab cake, japanese waygu, ny strip, are amazing. I do prefer pappas sides, crab cake mac and cheese and mushrooms smoke vic's.
If you really want a meat meal, hit up the meat mojo guy. Best fricking lamb I've ever had in my life.

Check out The Laura Hotel, it’s next to the rail line which takes you to NRG. Also two blocks from Pappas Bros Steakhouse downtown.. catching an Uber after the concert will be a nightmare. Quick check looks like one night stay on the 17th is around $200.00

100 Day Wet Aged Hanger Steak at Georgia James
Least expensive steak on the menu, but it has some wonderfully beef flavor.

Ok, so I’ve made some reservations. I think I’ll do the Laura Hotel so we can take the rail to NRG & we can walk to Pappas downtown. Sounds like a good plan? Any suggestions on what to do Friday during the day? Thanks everybody
