Guess I wasn't very clear in my original question. Does the descriptor of old newspapers papering the walls and proximity to the overpass spark anyone's memory as to a particular restaurant? Thanks
Somebody said it earlier you just missed it. That was the original Georges under the overpass on Perkins. Newspapers on the wall, graffiti on all the tables and dollar bills hanging from the ceiling. When the owner (Smokie) died they closed the place. It's since reopened as Zees Zees which funny enough used to be where Overpass Merchant is now across the street. Anyway, that location of Georges was well known for its burgers but isn't there anymore. Some will argue but the location on Highland (Georges Southside) has burgers that are pretty close to the original and the guy that managed the original location (Tony) runs the one on Highland now.
Thats your answer.

Thank you, thank you. I don't get the love for that place either.
I’ve said this before but I’ve noticed people’s opinions on burgers often come with either nostalgia or some bizarre badge of honor to say the most hole in the wall place.

Wagyu burgers just strike me as a huge gimmick

Not BR but I’d put the cheeseburger from Pelican Point up against anything in BR now.

Technically not BR, but the Stabs in Central has a great burger.

Agile Brewing has an excellent burger.

Agreed. I tried Dixie Maid once and wasn't impressed. The meat wasn't seasoned well and the tomatoes weren't ripe. It was a sloppy mess, to be honest.
Wagyulicious is good but it ain't cheap

Got it, thanks. I actually did see that but with all the other replies re: just the best burger in BR and being so brief, wasn't sure that was what nicholastiger intended. 'Preciate it.

Funny thing about that link you provided for Burger IM. They do not give an address for the business anywhere that I could find it on the website.

They are at Perkins/Essen across from Race Trac.

Excellent burger but their fries aren't that great and they give you a stingy little dixie cup of them. Iverstine's burger is almost as good and their fries are the GOAT.

I enjoy hanging out at Yard Goat, but the food is not good

It’s a nostalgia deal for sure. The burgers at Dixie Maid/Dearman’s/etc are fine but they hit the spot way more when I crave a burger I would’ve had when I was young in the 80s/90s

I am excited to hear this. I am still looking for a really good burger in Lafayette around the Costco area.

I actually really liked their food, just out of the way for me. It's a tasty classic burger at a good price, but nowhere near the best.

quote:Lies. I have never had a dry burger there.
I will never understand this other than it's big and cheap. It's dry, grey, and prison-grade meat.
Grey? Really? thats what happend to meat when it is cooked.
I guess you dont know your meat types because Riverside meat mix is one of the best in town.
the only one ill give you grace on is the color. They good well. i know some people like medium But it had never been overcooked.
