Sal and Judy's actually has a great fried chicken. Most people never think to get it there, but it is great to demolish after absolutely murdering thirty Abita Ambers.

Northshore: not sure if this is what you are looking for, but Saia's in Mandeville has some good fried chicken

Being reduced to only Popeye's on the Northshore (no KFC or Church's in Covington/Mandy) I met some family at the Piccadilly while they stopped off during traveling for lunch and the fried chicken was amazingly good. Just to my likeing as far as moist and plump goes, and the seasoning was mild but there. Great alternative in Covington.

Another weird addition is Galatoire's. Fantastic with a side of bernaise for dipping. My son's second favorite thing to eat behind pho tai.

As does Mandeville Seafood.
Another hidden gem is the convenient store on 190 in Slidell. I think it is an In and Out, but they sell a 25 piece of barn yard pimp for $12.99. It is ridiculously good for the price.
