Driving along I-10 in Louisiana this week. Who has the best cracklins? I don’t want to break my teeth.

I’m partial to best stop…. But that’s me.

I’ll tell you what though…. Stop into Nonc Kev’s in Rayne and get his chicken cracklins. They are damn good…. That steens and boudin egg roll ain’t bad either for a change of pace. That being said, I liken his boudin to more of the old school type, at least like it used to be at the Mowata store back in the day.

Henderson's Chicken on the Bayou. They make them fresh and they got some meat on it.

Famous Foods off Hwy 14 in Lake Charles. Their wet cracklins are incredible.

They're incredible. Their normal cracklins aren't in my top 5.

Forgive me for not knowing. But what is a wet cracklin?

Mostly everyone cooks good cracklins , but you can take a look at them and see if they look over cooked. Had some from Best stop this past weekend that were overcooked so were very dry and hard. This is not usually the case, i also like poche’s in Breaux Bridge but haven’t had them in years.

Regular cracklin soaked in a hot sauce and then seasoned to incredible deliciousness.

Those look good. I had some over the weekend that were really big chunks of skin on fried chicken. I don't want a lot of meat in mine.

Most places use the skin, Kirk’s uses sliced chicken meat with skin attached for a meatier cracklin

I fail to see an issue here.

Absolutely and that’s my preference. I want way more skin than chicken. Otherwise, I can get regular fried chicken.

When I skin chicken for gumbo, I season the skin and stretch it out flat on foil on a baking sheet. I bake until crisp. Yummy.

Not trying to be edgy but you realize cracklin’s are fried pork skins (with some meat) right?
