Brah, I'm not sure they'd let me in even as a guest.

There was a time when it was a semi-serviceable drinking establishment, but let's not get carried away.

I remember late 90's they used to have .25 cent wings on a certain night. Pitchers of Andygator and lots of wings on the balcony was a weekly occurrence.

I think I meant it was nice to sit out on the balcony in the fall and spring. No, it was never a "nice place".

It's turned to shite. Neighborhood hates it. There have been meetings, threatened lawsuits. They've raised the prices of drinks and added new restrictions in an attempt to change things.
Went for the first time in years about 6 months ago. The bouncer (not the usual massive dude that had an eyepatch for a while) told me that their business went to shite when they were forced to go smoke free.

Uh, I'm not sure that's there problem. In fact, I believe they were trying to make that part of the solution.

Yeah this is a correlation =/= causation thing. That just doesn't pass the logic test.

If many of their clientele were smokers, and places like Rendezvous and Bulldog are right next door and allow smoking, it definitely makes sense. He very well could have been full of shite or misinformed, but it's not like it was his bar. He had no reason to be making excuses for a failing business. The place was always packed from when I started frequenting it around 2004 and the second to last time I was there, which would have been 2011ish. On a weekend in late 2012, the place was dead. It was clearly a drastic and quick dropoff.

I know Henry's went non smoking beginning of this year. At first they lost some regulars, but not for long. They came right back and it's business as usual.

Meh. Are Bulldog and RDV more crowded then they were before? I didn't notice that they were. At least in my short life, it was always popular with people who were basically 21-30, smoking or non-smoking. What they may have lost in "regular/smokers" to BD/RDV they would've easily made up in people who don't like smokey bars. Easily.

Chill bro I'm not calling him a liar or saying he's making excuses. I just don't think his observation is likely to be correct.

Meh both times I went last month they weren't hurting for business. It might have been slightly less crowded than before (barely). I'd say the reason for that is probably due to opinions expressed in this thread about the clientele rather than losing the 30 some-odd regulars who went there all the time because they could smoke.

I stopped going to the balcony because their draft beer tasted like shite.
Posted on 6/4/13 at 10:47 am to TigerWise
I'm usually drinking liquor when I'm there.

Yeah, I haven't been to Balcony in probably two years. So i guess I could take it off my list if it's really this shitty now.
