Balcony Bar
Place is horrible would make the worst bar in NOLA list. It's also become popular with the natives.
It's turned to shite. Neighborhood hates it. There have been meetings, threatened lawsuits. They've raised the prices of drinks and added new restrictions in an attempt to change things.
It's a terrific location, and has a lot of potential with the balcony. They really should do a complete makeover. If not they're going to continue to have trouble.

I used to like to sneak up on the roof of Balcony Bar but they recently put a fence there blocking the air vent we would climb on.
They do play good music there. I was there this past Saturday and was grooving

Mrs. Mae's or Bon Temps. 24 hours to do whatever you need to do.

Then Brothers Three at 6.
In this vein, I would add Robert St. Bar.
Molly's is a great choice.

Exactly, that's why I asked how long it had been since that person has been there. It's an eyesore for magazine. You know it's a problem when they have to put no loitering signs all over the front.

Last time I went was mid-April and it looked mostly the same. Downstairs was always full of sketchy folk, but there was definitely a bit of crowd change upstairs relative to what I remember. I didn't feel unsafe or anything, I do remember me and my buddies drunkenly trying to "figure out" how/why the crowd had shifted. I'll throw that comment out here in the hopes someone else has an answer as I certainly don't.

I'm told a certain place closed down and as a result some of the crowd drifted to the Balcony (surprising as it doesn't serve, ahem, daquiris)
ETA: They've had to put two burly, uniformed guards in front on weekend nights. I think some of the true assholes are starting to drift away to find a more hospitable place.

The bartenders upstairs at Balcony are wannabe gutter punk trash.

That was the clientele in its better days.
Actually, I remember it being really nice years ago, but it's not the same.

Yeah I've noticed less and less loiter types over the last few weeks.

It's gotten a little better out front for sure. The sidewalk used to be an obstacle course at times. The bouncers AND the Garden District Security go the word and started making them move along.

I do enjoy sitting on the balcony and having some drinks though.

Yeah, they even have a Humidity (the NOLA skateboard shop) sticker behind the bar
One of the girls up there makes a shot that tastes like a chocolate covered pretzel. I am usually not into gimmicky shite like that but this one is pretty good.

In nice weather, I agree. It's getting a little warm now.

I just went and fixed myself a cajun breakfast (fried egg, smoked boudin and a piece of andouille on the grill). It is fricking hot considering it was 9 AM. Jesus.

Umm last November probably.
I always knew the upstairs bartenders were shitty but didn't know it got this bad.
