I’m looking for a quality Beef Wellington in either BR (don’t think it exist unless I’ve totally missed somewhere) or New Orleans. Of all my culinary exploits, this is one main dish I’ve never had the pleasure of trying.

Anyone have any good suggestions?

I've only made it at home, I'd like to try out one night, hope you get some decent responses.

I ad a very good version of this at the Court of Two Sisters, but it was at a private banquet. I don't know if they have it on the regular menu.

NOPSI had one last year for Revillon last year. Was alright.

Maybe they do it as a special from time to time.

I've never noticed it on a menu in BR, but it is regularly available at Fresh Market.

It is not something that lends itself well to be included on menus, it is an expensive cut of meat that is cooked in a large piece that needs serving quickly.

Do it at home or have one prepared whole for you.

All very true, but you can make individualized versions. Just sear off a filet mignon, let ir rest, wrap in pastry with duxelle, pate, and a layer of jamon in between the filling and pastry dough. If you want to make it at home, this is also a cheaper commitment.

Fleming’s used to have it. Was called beef flemington, made with prime filets. I don’t believed Fleming’s serves prime beef filets anymore.

I went into a now closed restaurant one time and there was a blackboard in the lobby listing specials. One was an app called "duck cells". I asked the waiter what that was. When he started describing that it was made with mushrooms, we all had to maintain control of our faculties. Damn that was funny and, to this day, I regret not taking a picture of the board before we left the restaurant.

I've made it at home also. The only restaurant in BR that I remember eating it, was Del Logo about 40 years ago.

It seems like it is difficult to cook according to all of the Hells Kitchen episodes I have watched. Apparently risotto and scallops are equally difficult

I've only seen it served at one restaurant I've ever been to, which is actually a bed and breakfast on Long Island, 1770 House, and it was served with an incredible red wine sauce.

It’s been a few years but after Flemmings stopped having it on the menu they would have it if you called ahead. My wife would call for my birthday.

I never quite understood the appeal of bread wrapped steak.

My understanding is that you have to order it ahead of time from most places that can make it. Restaurants usually prepare it 24 hours ahead of time.

Maybe they would do something like that?
