Baton Rouge Seafood Restaurant & Recipe / Seafood Salad

In the early 90's, my sister and I used to eat at a seafood restaurant off of either Siegen or Essen Lane. I would always order a "seafood salad," about $10 at the time, with tons of seafood and lettuce and greens as well. At any rate, I was hoping to duplicate the meal. Any suggestions?

I don't have a recipe, but Beausoleil in Baton Rouge off Jefferson in Bocage has a seafood salad that is wonderful.
Description from the menu: "CHOPPED SEAFOOD SALAD $13
with lump crabmeat, boiled shrimp, hearts of palm, cucumber, tomato, and avocado tossed in white remoulade over bibb lettuce"

I can not remember any seafood restaurants on siegen or essen at that time (surly there could of been plenty) but possibly Ralph and Kaccos on Bluebonnet?
ETA; possibly Calenders on Perkins just past Essen, they had some really good salads, but I would not classify it as a seafood restaurant?

Pretty sure it was near the exit maybe getting off the interstate, going left, and then on the right. I think it was actually Siegen, but haven't been to Baton Rouge in over a decade, and that area two decades. I appreciate your trying, but I sure can't remember. I may have a detail or two wrong.

I am willing to make a bet you are thinking of Ralph and Kacoos.
If you did that (either direction) on Siegan, you would not have a seafood restaurant of any kind. If you get off at Bluebonnet, coming from New Orleans, your directions are dead on for that restaurant (across the street from the Mall of Louisiana).

I bet it was R&K's too. I can vividly recall a big seafood salad--crab, shrimp in a mayo based dressing served atop mixed greens (with a healthy amount of iceberg in the mix). Why is the salad seared in my memory? Prob 30 years ago, my parents chaperoned a herd of nerdy kids to the State Literary Rally, and they took us to R&K's for lunch. My dad ordered said seafood salad, ate a good bit of it, and thought he crunched down on a crab shell. It turned out to be a long, bright red fake fingernail. Remember Lee Press-on Nails?

Still thinking R &K, but Copeland’s opened in the mid 90’s on Essen??

at the seigen exit that puts you at st george church or waffle house depending on the direction you are traveling

Better question is which ones haven’t gone downhill? Seems like all of the old-school type Seafood places in BR catch a lot of flak on here.

Mike Anderson's & Ralph & Kacoo's are the only 2 old-school places that I can recall. Brunet's shut down. Who are the others?
