I guess those studies were finally released showing that Rona really gets active after 11, instead of 10.

Our local media is completely worthless. How has not a single one of those worthless shitbags not challenged JBE on this? It's so fricking basic and elementary.

Last week when the Phase 3 guidelines came out and said 10 pm, a restaurant owner told "who cares...our dining rooms haven't had people in them after 10 pm since March."

In New Orleans?

The restaurant bars here in North Louisiana have been PACKED until whatever time they legally can't sell alcohol under normal circumstances.

I know of one bar and one restaurant in Metairie where the owner told me last week that they weren't stopping with alcohol at 10:00. They were willing to just take their chances since it seemed that the enforcement of any of the Covid stuff had been very relaxed for a while now.

There is a big disconnect between parishes where the sheriff runs the show (and knows better than cut off the hand that feeds you with tax revenue*) and New Orleans. Still a lot of hesitation to push the boundaries and incur the wrath.

This is all so stupid.

*Would love to see some sort of post-COVID tax revenue study and see the correlation between tax receipts, lockdowns, etc...

ATC shut down a Monroe bar & grill this week

The way I read it is that he was planning on reopening & the ATC caught wind & pulled his liquor license first

Who is possibly advising anyone that any of this MIGHT at the end of the day make any sort of economic sense for any municipality? That's what I don't get.

There's this weird sort of conventional wisdom line that it's all to get "federal dollars," but what's the indication that any particular amount of those would possibly be tied and/or correlated to the more ridiculous draconian shutdown measures you have implemented on businesses?

It's all so fricking sad, is what it is.

Thats what I keep wondering. So lets say New Orleans gets $50 million from the Feds...is that money going to be disbursed to every business who lost money (like the supposed BP settlement)? Or is it going to be used to repair things damaged by COVID (like post Katrina) - even though there aren't any actual physical damages...

Would love to see feds say "Fine cities who want to stay shut down, we will give you $100 million to fund the infrastructure project of your choice, but you have to open everything back up no restrictions."

I mean Latoya has FLAT OUT said this is about Federal funds so we know.

It won't go to businesses. It will go to Latoya's pockets, and the City of NOLA's coffers to avoid bankruptcy.

So, who's telling her, the more she shuts down, the more she's going to get? Is that just her own stupid supposition or has someone else planted that seed?

At some point does someone realize how stupid it is, or are we all just hostages to this inaneness till god-knows-when?

I know at least two owners that were absolutely beside themselves. They are more bars operating as restaurants right now, but 10-12 were there most profitable hours on the weekend.

Friend of mine who owns restaurants in Nashville has started taking a public position against their mayor. I am wondering who will be first here.

And look I dont understand how there isnt an accountant in the city who hasn't shown a graph, pie chart, abacus of just how bad things are and how much worse they can get.

I'm sure someone is telling her that.

Her plan in my opinion is to make it so bad that the Fed has no choice.

Its already been reported that NOLA has lost SIXTY PERCENT of tax revenue this year.

Because they know they will get NO pushback from journalists. Any pushback will get attacked as racist.

When you have complete hacks like Will Sutton holding your bag in The Advocate you can get away with anything.

Not sure this intellectual giant can understand an abacus.
