Their steak and shrimp tacos aren’t as good as El Tio’s, but their fish taco is as good as any I’ve had and their quesadillas are amazing. Solid margs and good sauces too. Really pumped they’re coming here, even though they'll be across town from me

For those that care the owner and his wife are heavily involved in abortion fundraisers and the wife created the George Floyd inspired mural you've probably seen around nola.

BTW, I’m developing the site with the owner. Any positive input from y’all would be appreciated as far as what you’d like to see on the site. We have already erected the “greenhouse” which will be covered outdoor seating and the garden center behind the barbershop is planning to green it up with plants/etc. the kitchen and order/pickup will be the old BBQ/gas station building and the bathrooms/etc will be behind it in the little block building.
the barbershop is open in the old garden center building and we are trying to get another bar/wine shop or brewery for the old bike shop.
parking obviously is an issue but we have overflow behind Boudreauxs across the street

Good luck with it. Yea parking will always be a hassle in the area whether it be not enough in general or other businesses customers using yours.
I would say to keep the politics stuff out of the plan like the stuff linked above, but you are on Govt street so it probably doesnt matter.

I’m not sure I get the appeal after looking at the menu. It’s like basic looking tacos with all the normal sides. And it’s outdoor seating only? In Louisiana we get like 2 months where it isn’t 100+ degrees or raining.

If you want opinions, indoor dining is needed. Also, I’m not parking across the street and walking across Government Street for a taco. Sadly, I see no way this place stays open with no parking and only outdoor seating.

These people auto grat 15% on pickup during covid, which was perfectly fine, no issue.
Then have an option for additional grat, ok, I'll take a look. Auto prompts were additional 15, 20, 25, or 28...man....y'all wild.

Didnt even see this. Theres just no way to properly cool a patio right now in this heat. Plus, theres about 15 other places to get tacos in the area where I am not sitting outside.

Barracuda has two other locations with essentially only outdoor seating and both are always busy.
They make good, interesting, relatively inexpensive tacos. They’ll be fine I’m sure.

That's so interesting. No way I would even consider outdoor seating right now or for at least half a year. Maybe in the Fall, some in Winter and a short time in Spring.

Wish them the best, but I don’t think does it well in that location.
If someone asked me if I wanted to go eat tacos on a 110 degree heat index day, there’s just no chance I’m picking an outdoor only place with the beautiful scenery of government street traffic.
Not when there’s other taco options on the same stretch. I haven’t been to Gov’t Taco but their menu is way more interesting with inside seating.

I've heard of Barracuda and remember it receiving lots of praise early on, so I'm not apt to saying it's going to fail.
I do think you gotta play up the "cute" factor to make BR gals drive across town for something. But judging by their website photos, it seems they do that well. So it may do well here too.
I don't think you're going to see it do well strictly due to namesake because most BR people aren't familiar with that place. But a cute setup that attracts young people might be enough to beat out the heat factor.

This one will be in an area that is on an upswing (for BR lol) but I can’t think of many BR places that are outdoor seating only that survived.
Opening in fall is definitely a smart move. They’ll do well initially.

There is one on Tchoupitoulas. I was taking out a few weeks ago & it was packed and the line was down to the corner. The outdoor seating didn’t seem to bother the mostly under 30 crowd
