I’m a grown arse man.
I drink when I want to drink.
A lot of my activities can be done while drinking such as golf, bowling and having drinks.

bullshite. Drinking a cocktail or two every night does not make one an alcoholic. Getting slammed every night does, starting your morning with a cup of coffee followed by a few shots of whiskey does.

I drink a couple cocktails almost every night, haven't gotten drunk in ages and for years would not drink a single drop of ANY alcohol during the entirety of Lent with no ill effects.

My PCP has never made a comment about the number of drinks that I've listed.

Probably because you live in south Louisiana and he probably drinks more than you. He is sitting there thinking....

Agree, and congrats if that is what is making your life better.

I have a brother-in-law who is now 74 and he was a stone alcoholic most of his life until around age 65 when he first started attending AA meetings and has been sober since. He's a much more pleasant person to be around now.

The guy would be drunk every day he wasn't at work or when he got off work, and did lose a couple jobs for drinking while on the job.

I remember one day he came to my house around 4 in the afternoon and left around 7 p.m. and had consumed an entire fifth of Baccardi Rum in those 3 hours.

He and his wife wound up arguing about him wanting to drive the car home-----she won, thank goodness since they lived over 50 miles away.

Certainly not. His wife called after they got home to let us know they were safe and said he had her stop on Causeway Blvd. at a convenience store before getting on the Causeway so he could buy a 6 pack for the ride home.

How he has not blown out his liver is a mystery to me.

No it’s not. Even the AMA experts al lady 2 drinks a night for a guy is ok. So that means 3 is ok also. Especially if you do everything else right.

Why? Someone can stop at 2 per night and you think that's concerning?

Used to imbibe anywhere from 20-30 drinks per week on average, depended on what season we are in. Obviously a bit higher during football season or if I'm on vacation or basically if I don't have to work. That would be anything from beer to whiskey to gin to tequila or basically whatever, I've never stuck to one thing.

I found myself getting fat, so now I have cut back significantly, I'd say I'm in the 6-8 drinks a week range now. Been holding steady for a couple of months now. Will see what happens with football right around the corner.

If it's 2 beers, maybe not.

But two "drinks" could be what the medical field classifies as 6 drinks, which yes is concerning. If you have two bourbon filled to near the top of a glass with a splash of water you're drinking too much every day
