We have been trying to get in this place for brunch forever it seems. Always packed with a line out the door. Wife and I were off yesterday and decided to give it a shot. We got there right at 10am when they opened. Even at 10 am on a Monday the crowd started to flow in behind us. We started with the "build your own" Bloody Mary bar. They had three different kinds of mix including a green tomatillo version which was tasty. They had everything you could imagine. Pickled okra, asparagus,Brussel sprouts, olives, bacon, beans, etc. basically you buy a cup of vodka and then just go to town. The food was also quite good. The wife had the Eggs Atchafalaya which was poached eggs on top of fried green tomatoes topped with hollandaise and jumbo lump crabmeat. I had a special. It was 6 fried oysters topped with a NOLA blonde brown butter sauce which set on 2 eggs up. Underneath all of it was hogshead cheese grits. It was amazing. No room for dessert. Definitely going back.

Hard not to get the duck confit and duck fat Sazeracs.

Monday is the right time to try for brunch, can usually walk right in.

Been guilty of this a few times. I don't eat brunch often, but Atchafalaya has made me a repeat customer.

Do they have live music on Mondays or is that a Sunday only thing?

This sounds fantastic. A lot better than the crab cakes/poached eggs/hollaindaise snooze fest that every brunch place seems to phone in.

I didn't know they did it Thurs-Mon. That is pretty cool. Agree with others that the duck hash is the way to go. So good.

Great restaurant. I went back in August when it was nearly 100 outside. Tends to kill the crowd just slightly

You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time.

I've been to Atchafalaya a few times for brunch, but never for dinner. Always wanted to try it.

I used to go all the time. Now it's always packed. They've changed up the menu a little bit and jacked up the prices as well. I don't think it's as good as it used to be. The grits are pretty good though and a must.

Went a few months ago after years of hearing the hype. Food was good, but portions were very small. I'm not a big eater by any means, but we went out and got another breakfast within an hour or two afterwards.
