Yes, I have. Then I wondered why I would take a perfectly good hobby and turn it into a job that makes no money.

Time to start liquidating assets my man. Who really needs a house when you can sleep in a tent? Who needs a car when you can street surf on a skateboard? Are you prepared to sacrifice to achieve the end goal?

You think 100k is a lot of money to start a business?

Damn, too bad. They had a girl playing guitar and singing on Sunday and she was insanely talented. Made for a nice afternoon.

I have an idea for a bar too. a medieval themed bar!

I guess the right step is too sell kegs to bars in town like the Londoner. i dont even have my own place.

how do contracts between bars and breweries work?

It's mostly just hand shake agreements. But that's if you want to go formal.

Most breweries just show up with kegs and install them when management isn't looking.

That's illegal. (ETA: In Louisiana)

This might be fixed by the time you get your permits though.

Breweries do not have contracts with bars in Louisiana.

If you combine Midevil Times jousting theatre with a brew pub then that's a frickin winning idea.

Don't be mean. So many don't understand how much work goes into opening a business if they've never done it. It's awesome to have dreams and it would so cool for the OP if he could figure out a way to make his happen

This is fact.

And none of the burbs have anything.

Still, it's not easy.

I'd rather own a bottle/tap/wine shop, but don't really care for the hours. Those places make their money on pours, which would require nights and weekends. Can't really do that with kids.

That's why you hire people to do it for you!

In that case, here's an honest piece of advice.

Get a job at a brewery. Any job. Work there for at least 5 years and try to learn as much as you can. Make connections with vendors and other people in the industry. Save as much money as possible so you can start with a little capital and have some money in savings so that when you start out you can survive despite not turning a profit for a year or two.

Spend your free time brewing at home. Try different recipes over and over until you hit on something that is good. Then do that batch a hundred times to prove you can be consistent.

Then MAYBE you'll be in a position to start an extremely low batch micro brewery that has a 50% shot at best at being profitable.

Then I advise that your friend do all that, and 5-10 years down the road, you design artwork to your heart's content.

But the idea of "I like beer and my friend brews beer" being the promising start to a profitable brewery is just foolishness and not how the real world works.

If in 2023 you in fact have a brewery, start a thread about it. I'll be happy to be the first in line as a paying customer.
