i don't even know what brand we have but, it works every time.

Got one from Williams Sonoma, don't remember brand, paid near $30, broke within 2 weeks. Went to walmarks out of desperation and paid about $4 for one and it's been good for over a year

Another vote for Pampered Chef. We've had ours for years. It even has a little spot to grab the lid on the side of it.

I've had a cheap one from albertsons for the last 3 years. My next one will probably be an oxo. Everything of theirs is quality

I have a cheap drug store electric and a few old hand ones, all of which work fine. I don't use them very often, though.

As previously mentioned, the side cutters are great. I have had mine for a decade or better.

I have gone through like 4 manual ones, I swear
I honestly don't know how many of the cheap can openers I've gone through, but it was enough for me to say "F it" and buy some more expensive ones.

My roommate has a Pampered Chef opener that opens the sides and it works like a charm.
This is what I have and it has performed flawlessly for 11 years.

get the manual Kitchen Aid at the Target. $14-15 or so. Bulky and hard to fit in drawers, but works and lasts forever.

Make sure you are using it correctly. There is a correct and incorrect way to use a can opener, believe it or not.

I thought I was the only one. They break about every 25 cans or so. It's ridiculous

Had an Oxo for a few years, and it crapped out.
Now have a Kuhn Rikon that I picked up for about $10 on sale. It has worked great for about 2 years. Makes a smooth edge and has a little grabber to left the lid when done. When it finally wears out, I will buy another one.
Amazon $16.46

My can opener works great. He's a sarcastic black british guy named Dobbsington. Sometimes we have wacky adventures, but everything always works out within 30 minutes somehow.

Ewe...YUCK! That's the kind that gets the build up all over it and if it drops the top in the can you get nastiness everywhere. You need the one above too!

I have a couple of these. They are great as long as you keep fresh batteries in them.
