Trying to make my red beans a little leaner. Tried butterball turkey sausage and it’s ok. Any suggestions?

I’ll second the Savoie’s. Best turkey sausage that I’ve found so far. Haven’t been able to find any for the last several weeks so I bought some Hillshire Farms. Haven’t tried it yet but it doesn’t look like it’s going to be as good as Savoie’s.

skip the sausage

Go to tasso, smoked and diced chicken, or pork temple meat

Yes to the tasso. Best Stop in Scott has a very good turkey tasso.

Healthier meaning less fat? Doesn't get much better for my keto diet than eating smoked sausage.

Use real tasso from a place like Bergerons or Ronnies.

If you’re looking for healthier sausage, read the ingredients. Most poultry sausages use dark meat.

I like the Conecuh original and cracked pepper. Also anything with lean meat like alligator is going to be low in fat.

Use Richard's made w/ turkey, it's not bad for a low fat sausage.
