Our choices are…

Costera
Osteria Lupo
Mamou
N7
Paladar 511

Wife and I never been to any of the above listed. What does the F&D board recommend?

Out of those choices I'd pick Paladar 511, although N7 would give you a bit more of a "romantic atmosphere" if that's a priority.

I don't know anything at all abut Mamou. I've been everywhere else.

I need to give osteria another shot. I was very underwhelmed the only time we went. We got the chef menu and I just wasn’t impressed.

Mamou is awesome and your wife will love it. Very very pretty restaurant, very good food.

Personally I love all of the restaurants listed.

Costera is one of my favorites in the city, but doesn't quite feel Anniversary level.

N7 being mostly outside, in Summer, might be a little rough. Pretty place though.

Been to all of these and they are all great. For an anniversary I would go to Mamou. Feels like you are in Paris. Drinks and food are top notch. Get the Flounder Florentine. N7 would also be a good choice in nice weather but I would not chance it now. Paladar, Costera and Lupo are all on the loud side for an anniversary dinner. Mamou is more intimate.

Costera & paladar are kind of loud so not sure how romantic you want to get

I’ve been to N7 twice & didn’t love it, though the space & service is rather charming

I’ve had drinks at Mamou only but have heard the food is really good. I do agree with bunchie, the space has a cute little bistro cottage feel that should make your wife’s panties drop

It’s you and not them.

It’s not all outside either, just make reservations for 2 indoors.

Went recently. Very quaint villa courtyard. Food was quite good but small. We were early so not crowded. Maybe 5-6 other tables.

The flies however, swarmed us. The wait staff was utterly indifferent. Coming back from the bathroom my wife spotted those table helicopter things. I had to flag down a not-busy staff person to ask for one and she seemed visibly bothered. That helped some. My finished Sazerac glass attracted them greatly and I’d routinely cover it and shake then squash them inside. Killed about 15-20. The flies were surely just a seasonal temporary thing, but the attitude of the staff about it will last long.

We got pizza not too long after.

i dont think so. Their menu is just very boring. But may excite someone who eats in mississippi every night. Not someone who eats in new orleans every night

Mamou would be my #1 pick.

Paladar 511 is solid, but I wouldn't recommend it for an anniversary dinner. Went to N7 once, and while it was OK, it didn't "wow" me.

For the occasion, Mamou. Best combination of food and appropriate ambience.

So many French-Japanese fusion restaurants in New Orleans you just get bored. Maybe if they described items on the menu a little more bougie your friends would approve. You ‘not good enough’ foodies are fart sniffers…just enjoy the damn bok choy and not point out the fact that a stiff blue cheese would be better than what’s provided.

Just ignore Lester. He’s the food board’s snarky troll.

I echo the others that this was kind of a dud for me. Ordered tuna crudo and they served some type of white fish (I assume snapper). Pasta dishes I’ve had there were good but nothing wows. I liked the pasta at San Lorenzo much better.

I’m not really bougie. But it’s a basic beef-pork-chicken-fish restaurant without a ton of range. Just kinda boring. The atmosphere and service are nice, though.
