You'd think that since Baum's opened next to them they'd step up their service...not so much.
Because Baums service and products suck as well.
Although they do have a great lemon meringue pie. They used to make round loaves of Italian bread and is was fantastic but they quit bread.

The strawberry cake at Ambrosia is titties, Baum's leaves a lot to be desired, I picked up a red velvet their Friday and it wasn't good. Cake Palace is far and away much better than either of these two bakeries.

This is worth the price of admission I must say. They can be a dick to me as long as I get this cake. I'll just flip them off as I go out the door.

I had recent problems with them as well. They effed up my daughter's cake and wouldn't even take anything off the bill. i'm done with them.

Folse is quite a good salesman for Louisiana, but he is also a grandmaster bullshitter.
Just caught this. So true. I'd never want to work for that guy. I have stories that are unbelievable in regards to how he treats employees and how he is in real life.

As you can see this goes beyond that one incident and while telling my wife about this thread this morning she had several complaints over the last few months as well. It is a shame because I really do like the product and like to give the business to your bakery.
Sorry about your mother but that doesn't fix the other complaints.
Good luck.

We stopped going to Ambrosia because the service just got terrible. This was happening at the old location. It's like no one behind the counter wanted to be there and they didn't want our business...
Good food outweighed by really poor customer service...
I'm glad the owner is reading this thread... they need to shape up the attitudes behind the counter... If I treated my customers the way I've been treated at Ambrosia, I'd get fired.
Other family members have had similar experiences on other occasions.

Ambrosia's Tiger Tails are also very good.

A lot of owners post on here and respect the input. Opie, Gugich, BrokenEgg all understand and try to be thickskinned. Well Egg and Tigah dance around the tree from time to time but what the hell.
Opie responded to my questioning the use of packets of tartar sauce by thanking me for my input and creating a homemade version that is damn good and much much better than the heinz in a packet. I haven't been in awhile but intend on doing a surprise inspection shortly to make sure he hasn't gone back to the packets in an effort to save labor and materials due to the depression we are in.
Tired of Gripes needs to realize that while all complaints on here aren't necessarily true for the most part it is an honest bunch and while some may be not too polished as how to express their complaint and there is always a fair amount of bandwagoning most are legitimate complaints.
He addressed the particular incident and had reason to be preoccupied and hopefully will address the other items as a whole. I for one certainly want the place to succeed and wish Baums would have addressed my legitimate complaint as well because I liked their product as well. I was treated badly and will never conduct busines with them again.
Pick a new name Tiredofgripes and become a solution to the problem and post on here.
You will find that Monroe has a huge population of Sicilian rednecks that make the best pizza this side of Corleone and that New Orleans is the only place to ever eat anything other than cream of wheat.
We welcome the input. Just don't say you make good bread. You will be slaughtered and fed to the yat's.

There's a new bakery in Central called Bon Bon bakery and coffee emporium if anyone is interested in taking their business elsewhere. I've tried a few of their pastries, all of which are excellent. They make a strawberry cake similar to Ambrosia's, which I tried at the business expo last saturday. Tastes like Ambrosia's basically, but it's better just because. Their sandwiches and coffee are amazing too.
I have tried Bon Bon's numerous times and have been dissapointed each time. Service is poor and slow. The biscuits are never fresh. 70 percent of the time they are out of what you want. I want to like this place, since i live very close.
The new ambrosias is definitely lacking in service. There are a few really good girls behind the counter, but most don't care who walks in the door. However, the food is very good. Cinammon Rolls are the best i have had.

Anyone try the Cake Goddess yet? We had their strawberry cake that Ambrosia does too and it was excellent, bigger and less expensive than Ambrosia.

I get the strawberry cake every year for my birthday. It's the best thing they make, hands down.
Bad service or good service, that cake is the bomb.
