not that hard to try if you know people. had a buddy go to the release, take a half sip of his 4oz pour, spit it in a ziploc, and overnighted it to me. worth the hype, imo.

Yeah, I was worried about oxidation myself.

a little bit of oxidation, but i wasn't really going to complain about getting a chance to try the bestest, most rarest beer in the universe. have any of ya'll tried it? didn't fricking think so.

eta, i'll see if he's going again next year, and i can snowball it to you if interested. you have to bring a really rare beer to share though

I got PTY this year without trying. I was at Belmont Station and had ordered a beer off the menu and the guy next to me ordered a Pliny the Younger. I looked at him and said, "What?". Needless to say, that was my next beer. They were pouring PTY, but didn't have it listed on their board.

Places here are getting away from the shite show of selling tickets and publicizing it. The regulars weren't getting any with the long lines, and whatnot. Most of the places that get it just informally tell their regular customers when it will be on tap and don't even list it on their boards. You have to know to ask for it. Apparently, I'm not one of Belmont Stations best customers, because they didn't tell me about it.

The Beermongers usually comes up with a clever name for it. They called it Miller Genuine Draft, one year, and last year they called it Fight Club (and don't talk about it). Not sure what they did this year.

When I've had every beer on a best of beer list, the list isn't right.

I've had 19 of the top 20 (no Sip).

Look at this beer Maven.

But seriously, interesting that over half of the top 20 are sitting on the shelves at my local HEB. Apparently, availability was a factor here.

3. The Alchemist Heady Topper

From my last trip to VT this year. All Heady Toppers except for the one at the top, which was The Alchemist Focal Banger, which I actually think is even better than Heady Topper.
