Is the flooding in St. Francesville caused by the opening of the Morganza? If so, I don't get it, Morgnaza is on the west bank and St. Francesville is on the east bank. Am I misunderstanding something?

what are the latest projections for Baton Rouge, specifically downtown area?

I'm out of state and the coverage is mostly concerning Memphis.

Thanks.

If you're south of Natchez, let me know if you can tell how much water is over Carthage Point Rd. TIA.

Word is the same, from what I can get the river should get to 47.5, the levee is rated to 48 ft. But with anything this is what the model is giving them. Years ago in Vicksburg there was a model with water lines and weirs, they would regulate the flow and that would give them the stages of the river. Now everything is done on computers, input the data and thats what it gives you.
The Governor was in North La. meeting with the COE along with others. He has done a great job trying to keep a handle on this.

This is another site to keep up with the up to date news........

Haven't heard anything from the Berwick side, but i dont think they have as much to worry as Berwick to Calumet is protected by the river/giww levees.

Was just out by gov. Nick wharf, my measurements indicate 5 more ft. Should bring it below the levee top by ~1 ft.

Does an inch of rain equal an inch higher in the Mississippi? I don't think it does necessarily.

Explanation below. Compliments to Prof. Nelson of Tulane University and LSUDad.

When rain falls on the surface of the Earth, some of the water is evaporated and returns to the atmosphere, some of it infiltrates the soil and moves downward into the groundwater system, and some is intercepted by depressions and vegetation. What remains on the surface of the Earth and eventually flows into streams is called runoff. In general, then:

Runoff = Precipitation - Infiltration - Interception - Evaporation

Unless I am mistaken, the 47.5 models are not factoring Morganza being open yet.
