620 for OCRS
600 for Morganza
Those are maximum flow rates.
By statute, they could only flow the full 620 out of OCRS if the flow before that point was 2066 or so, as that would be a seventy/thirty split. I am sure they would bump it up to beyond thirty percent if they felt they had to do so.
Didnt realize it handled that much. It wasn't touched on much here outside of 70/30 split.

well the guy that farms and who you were with riding in anna are first cousins. And I think if you are who i think i ran into you in tuscaloosa last time LSU played there, getting wild at the hounds tooth.

Whose dumbass idea was it to build something OUTSIDE of the levee on one of the biggest rivers on the planet?

yall family worried about the flood with business right there or think them levee's gonna hold?
I was actually the other guy, but i work in vidalia as well. I have confidence the levees will hold, the riverfront on the other hand not so much.

I'd really like to see someone setup a webcam at Morganza!

Normaly, the 70/30 split is adjusted daily by USACE hydraulics in N.O. At this point NOBODY gives a damn about that 70/30. And the law does not stipulate what time frame the 70/30 must be maintained, so in order to maintain 70/30, the flow next month can be adjusted to ensure a 70/30 ratio over an extended period (year?). Normally variations from 70/30 are approved by MRC/Division Commander in Vicksburgh. Probably already done in advance for this flood.

I'm sure they will. If they did at BC they'll do it for Morganza. This entire event is going to be well documented.

I think it's pretty shocking that we don't have accurate and publicly available levee geospatial data...

I think it's shocking I have no clue what you're talking about.
But my CONTEXT CLUES tell me it has to do with how much the levee can hold back and whatnot.

Michael did you not learn geospatial concepts while studying abroad?

Just cause you are educated doesn't make you smart.

Well what I'd like to see are some files that basically contain information on the exact heights of the levees. It seems that nobody really knows the exact heights of the levees south of Baton Rouge... they report the heights IN Baton Rouge at 48 to 50 feet, but south of say Brightside is unknown at least to the news organizations. Geospatial files are computer files that you can plug into software, so you can actually map these heights.
I live off Brightside, so I'm concerned about the potential for backflooding of the lower levees south of Brightside. This backflooding is what is being reported as creating risk for LSU.

I studied many broads in my 6 yrs at LSU, only thing I learned is that if a gal is >= 1.28 times your body weight, do NOT try reverse cowgirl with her in the sack.
ETA: I did know what geospatial data was but not waht it was used for. Thanks yall.

I can't give you the source, but the levee at the edge of Lake Beau Pre near the little church on Trinity Lane is a smidge over 51 (51.26 to be exact). That is a GPS vertical control elevation to within 0.05'. That is based on NAVD 88.

Pretty awesome that the OT/Flood Board has the most concise and up to date information on the flood...Great job.

I just realized how close the FIL's camp in Newelton, LA is to Vicksburg and the river. I was supposed to go deer hunting next year
Guess it'll be underwater.
