Can we finally talk seriously about firing Les?
I'm calling BS, it's so zoomed in there is no perspective ... probably a garden hose someone set up to make a hoax!

MSNBC stirs the pot.

How dare we protect 1 million + people's lives and sacrifice the property of 2,500 people who were already informed of the risks? :blah: :blah: :blah:
Exactly I'm with udtiger, we already know that without any additional rain that Morganza WILL HAVE TO BE opened. The only plausible reason not to open it now that I can see is fear that they may not be able to close it if it scours or something else time related.
But I mean, surely opening it now would reduce the water level sitting on the levees in BR (which I understand the length of time increases the likelihood of failure)? At the same time, everything in the spillway will be flooded at some point anyhow.
Just as the title says...
Well what I'd like to see are some files that basically contain information on the exact heights of the levees. It seems that nobody really knows the exact heights of the levees south of Baton Rouge... they report the heights IN Baton Rouge at 48 to 50 feet, but south of say Brightside is unknown at least to the news organizations. Geospatial files are computer files that you can plug into software, so you can actually map these heights.

I live off Brightside, so I'm concerned about the potential for backflooding of the lower levees south of Brightside. This backflooding is what is being reported as creating risk for LSU.
I think it's pretty shocking that we don't have accurate and publicly available levee geospatial data...
I'd really like to see someone setup a webcam at Morganza!
