I have seen this but honestly not concerned.

The thing I remain most concerned about is Trump's climate stance. If he hires Myron Ebell it will be a disaster.

Exact same answers on my end.

However serious, I get the issue that a Muslim, woman, or Hispanic could have with him, but other minorities and LGBT?

What is the issue with Trump and blacks? Trump and LGBT? The answer is that he isn't a Dem, so he quite obviously must despise all non-whites.

people like this should not be in government, we are not a theocracy. as Barry Goldwater said...
quote:

“Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.”
some of you may like what Pence said because you're Christian too, but you would lose your minds if a Jewish or Muslim Vice President had said the exact same thing.

if something is wrong its wrong, every single time, it doesn't get a pass on the occasions when it benefits you.

Van Jones was despicable last night. I usually enjoy the melt, but that guy legitimately drives hate issues. The exact text I sent a black friend was "am I missing something about Trump and blacks, or do they just think all Rs are racist?"

Answer: "Honestly, I never really heard Trump say anything racist towards blacks. It's more of an issue with his supporters."

I get his concern there, to some extent, but all of this "How do you talk to your kids about Trump" shite is insane.

I forgot about the Mike Pence defunding AIDS/HIV programs to fund conversion therapy. That's a good reason to be upset.

There's also the issue of potentially defunding Planned Parenthood, which provides a lot of services to LGBT people.

You're representative of your constituents. As long as you're upfront about your priorities, then the people have the right to decide your fate in government. I have the same opinion of any other religion and government.

Didn't Trump actually take a pretty hard stance against this?

It's not Trump so much as his cabinet and the fact that there's a house and Senate Republican majority with a Republican President.. They feel like the civil liberties and freedoms they have been afforded in recent years will be repealed.

Interesting question because at lunch today I even heard a (D) pollster on NPR say that he thought Trump was the most gay-friendly GOP nominee ever and he didn't expect to see any real impact on LGBT causes.

Others have already hit on the reason. Trump has a (R) by his name so they've been conditioned to react a certain way. They're really nothing more than Pavlov's dogs now.

if you go to Mike Pences website youll see the concerns

he opposes gay marriage on the federal level = "Congress should oppose any effort to put gay and lesbian relationships on an equal legal status with heterosexual marriage."

he opposes anti-discrimination legislation = "Congress should oppose any effort to recognize homosexual’s as ... entitled to the protection of anti-discrimination laws similar to those extended to women and ethnic minorities.

he opposes money being given to groups that promote safe sex - "(Congress should) ensure that federal dollars were no longer being given to organizations that celebrate and encourage the types of behaviors that facilitate the spreading of the HIV virus."

and thinks that money should instead be spent on conversion therapy because he considers being gay to be a choice - "Resources should be directed toward those institutions which provide assistance to those seeking to change their sexual behavior."

he upheld the gay marriage ban in Indiana and the law making it a felony for a same-sex couple to even apply for a marriage license = usa today

Pence said, “societal collapse was always brought about following an advent of the deterioration of marriage and family.” Pence also called being gay a choice and said keeping gays from marrying was not discrimination, but an enforcement of “God’s idea.” = time

Gay marriage is a states rights issue. Or at least, it will be now.

the SCOTUS kind of ruled state laws that block gay marriage are unconstitutional, so it's really not a state issue anymore. Or were you asleep in 2014? It was kind of a big deal

I must have. That's fricking retarded. I hope that is changed. Marriage has always been a State power. Either way, it will always be legal in the liberal states.

It will always be legal everywhere unless the Supreme Court overturns its decision, which it won't

What clause in the Constitution did they use to make that a Federal issue?

not really. The fundamental right to marry does not define marriage as a union between a man and a woman. Therefore, the SCOTUS chose not to interpret as it meaning between a man and a woman.

Look, me personally, as a Chrisitan, I do not agree with same sex marriage. However, I also believe in the separation of church and state and understand that the Constitution is not bound by judeo-christian beliefs. And the way I look at it, people are free to live their lives as they choose. The SCOTUS made the correct ruling.

What my very conservative parents are worried about is the government forcing churches to marry same sex couples, which I think is ridiculous to be concerned about.
