What liquid do you put into your smoker reservoir?

I mostly cook ribs and shoulder roast in my gas stand-up smoker.
I've used apple juice and beef broth in the reservoir. Comes out nice every time.
What say you? Looking for new ideas.

Usually just water. Sometimes apple juice and apple cider vinegar but does it really make a difference? What besides the water in the juice actually evaporates?

Experimented over the years and never noticed any difference IMO.
Typically the water is there to help regulate temperatures. So I just use water

Usually just water, but have tried adding apple juice, apple cider, beer, etc. haven't noticed much in changing the flavor. Found that I got most flavor from the different types of wood, I avoid mesquite. I like hickory and oak mostly. Apple and cherry wood I didn't notice a flavor wise, but that could just be me.

I wouldn’t think adding a flavored juice should make any difference. Water pans are used to absorb some of the energy from the direct heat going into the cooking chamber and to increase the humidity levels in the cooking chamber.

My water pan is filled with sand and covered in foil. I got tired of cleaning the water pan. Haven't noticed any difference.

Flavored carbonated water.
Fruit paired with a fruit wood works well.

Wet sand & covered with foil. Use it as a heat sink instead of a sauna.

Water, aromatics, possibly lemon and/or orange, and the seasoning I’m using on the meat.

Don’t put apple juice in your smoker.
Don’t put alcohol in your bong.
