There was this one dude named Lord Eddard Stark of Winterfell. He was actually the Warden of the North, but people just called him Ned.

Apoiler Alert. Ned's dead.

Ned hasn't been around Southerners for a decade and he figures it out after what, a few weeks?

It's HAPPENING!!!

Ok, not officially announced, but it's happening.

Probably

So it MIGHT come out this year but will not be available until next year, AT THE EARLIEST.

GRRM is full of shite. We will never see the books finished.

While I'm not holding my breath, is this an issue of mass market release and/or delayed release by the New Zealand publisher, as this talk of WorldCon is in New Zealand?

quote:

Even if GRRM is somehow able to finish writing the book, normal readers might not get their hands of ‘The Winds of Winter’ as mass publication and editing will take over a few months. The Winds of Winter might release in 2020 but it will be only available in stores around 2021 at the earliest.

Obviously, unless it has already been to the publisher for months with editing taking place, there is no way this comes out this summer.

Every time I see this thread I tell myself not to get my hopes up. Immediately my hopes skyrocket and I click on last page just to have my hopes dashed against a wall poor baby aegon style.

For those of you who may be concerned for me personally… yes, I am aware that I am very much in the most vulnerable population, given my age and physical condition. But I feel fine at the moment, and we are taking all sensible precautions. I am off by myself in a remote isolated location, attended by one of my staff, and I’m not going in to town or seeing anyone.

Truth be told, I am spending more time in Westeros than in the real world, writing every day. Things are pretty grim in the Seven Kingdoms… but maybe not as grim as they may become here

He might be writing stories from Westeros, but he’s not working on ASOIAF.

Probably just some more history BS.

I was hopeful we would have had some update by now. We're moving in Q2-2020. This is rediculous.

Since we're all bored, someone should do some statistical analysis extrapolating the number of just how many of Martin's ASOIAF fans have died (from all causes, not just the Wuhan virus) waiting for this penultimate book.

As a reminder, in the unlikely event Martin lives another 12 to 15 years, there is yet another book on the horizon.

New articles coming out speculating that it's not going to be this year based on some statements and posts he's made.

between the cancellation of Conventions and the ability to have pizza delivered to his house at all hours in order to simulate a pizza crawl, there really are no excuses.

For anyone who still gives a shite, Alt-Shift-X with a video on the fate of the Martells. I mostly agree with him, although I think Cersei will personally poison Tommen (and then Jaime to strangle her within minutes) rather than one of the sand snakes doing it. Arianne will be the POV character in King’s Landing and it will be her and Aegon’s fate to die in King’s Landing to Dany and Drogo’s, not Cersei and Jaime (the later of which I expect to die in the final battle with the Others protecting Jon). YouTube

And it sucks because I like the idea of Dany burning down King’s Landing at the end, it’s just the execution of it that is awful. I am not cool with Bran becoming king at the end though. He better have a better excuse than blowing himself as a storyteller saying “who has a better story than Bran the Broken?”

All I know is Young Griff better sit on the throne at some point. I'm all in on him being the legitimate heir, not considering Jon. I'm fine if Dany comes in and kills him, but I want his story to advance and him to have his moment.
