My post was about the Delta companion ticket.

I actually called today. Turns out many companion seats have to reach a price point to show up (and that is a lower price point), prior to that you just get a message that your search doesn't meet the Terms and Conditions for the companion ticket. I tried about 20 combos from multiple airports and all gave me the same issue, so I called the companion ticket number and that is what they told me.

I have about $50,000 in purchases to roll through in the next couple months. I don't currently have a rewards card. What is the best one to use? Could I get two different cards and double up my rewards by doing a balance transfer from one to the next?
Thanks

I signed up for the Chase United Explorer card in 2015 or so. Bumped it down to the non-annual fee version just to keep a credit account open. Saw they are doing 65,000 miles for the Explorer now. Does anybody have an estimate on the turn-around time between closing my current card and opening the new one for the bonus?

go for the amex blue business card.
you'll get 2x for each dollar (up to $50k)

if you will spend in $5000 (or more) chunks... a amex business plat may be an option if you want more rewards/customer service. bigger purchases get 1.5 points.
while $50k wont earn an invite for a black card...i believe the platinum cardholders would get you a welcome at centurion lounges in major airports

if you live in a united hub city... the chase united mileage club card pays 1.5 points per dollar. (but is limited to united)

i could be wrong but i thought it had to be 2+ years between same card applications.

call chase and see if downgrading the card is an option(to something with no yearly fee)

then just apply for explorer card again

Hey guys. New here.
So my wife and I are going to the BVIs this summer in june. Plane tickets cost about $500-600. I just had the idea of looking into opening a CC to take advantage of any deals i could get. This is pretty new for me and dont plan on using it besides reaping the initial deal.

I have a 770 Credit score and only have 5 card open in total all carry minimal balances.

Any ideas or tips as to what i should look into?

so...
get both.

american express is imo a benefit card...
get it for the perks..but it shouldnt be he only card you use.

I downgraded the Explorer in 2016 or 2017. I applied for a new Explorer sometime in 2018 or so and they said the downgraded card still counts as a United card and I couldn't have both. My question was for anybody that cancelled a card to sign up for the new bonus. How long should I wait to apply after cancelling the current card?

SW companion pass will require 125,000 points next year. Also announced that points will not expire.

Working on earning the Companion now. With this new threshold, it doesn't appear to be as easy as earning the pass in the past--previously you could just meet the required spend in the bonus period on a personal card and a business card to earn the companion. However, there is a loophole.

-There is an offer on a personal CC that is only available in-flight when connected to their wifi that can get you 50k bonus points on the personal card (whereas the "normal" offer right now is 40k bonus).

This means to achieve, you can:
-get a business card, spend the $5k required in 3 months to earn 70k bonus points
-get a personal card via the in-flight wifi, spend the required $2k in 3 months to earn 50k bonus points
- at 1 point per dollar on all purchases, the $5k you spend above will also earn you 5k points

Total: 125k points

I had to send them my license to verify the address I used but it was a pretty easy process.

All Southwest Personal Cards 75,000 Points Signup with $5,000 Spend in 6 Months via referral if anyone is trying to get Companion Pass for 2020/2021 since the requirement has gone up to 125K. If anyone wants a referral link leave your email and I'll send one over.

Also rumors of CSR bumping up annual fee to $550 and adding a DoorDash/Lyft membership and possibly upping the travel credit. I think I personally will get use out of the difference but there's probably plenty that won't.

75k is a good SW sign up bonus.
I won't get the benefit from another $100 fee on the CSR

That woudn't be worth it to me anymore. Not sure what I would do, but I would probably get rid of it. But I have 500K points to deal with.

I said "upping the fee" but I meant upping the travel credit, sorry for the typo I'll edit. The Travel Credit is the same as cash to me so that's easier to swallow but yes I agree. May be worth downgrading to Preferred but you will get 1.25 on travel instead of 1.5. 500K is a lot to lose value on though.
