Bapple and I finally finished and put the stand at my camp in Mississippi. Hopefully we kill some nice deer on this. Anyways, these pics are from this past Saturday documenting the process.

As you can see, we used steel cables with a turnbuckle as bracing. Also, we lifted the base first with tractor and then began lifting up all of the sections to the base with the tractor bucket after doing bracing and the ladder. After we had the sections put together, we put in windows and roofing. We will definitely add a bit more roofing for overhang but we ran out of panels.

We also plan on adding a railing for the balcony to make it a bit safer. That was the idea with the balcony - rather than go straight from the ladder into the box you can go onto the balcony and walk into it.

I will add that the deer view windows are awesome. The front and back are 4’, the sides are 1’ for the side with the door, and 2’ for the side without.

Last things to do - corkscrew into the ground with a steel cable and turnbuckle to anchor to ground and add hook on one leg for a large propane tank. We’ll then run a hose inside to a heater that should have enough gas for multiple seasons. It’s gonna be a 5* hotel up in there.

My uncle did that. He'd bring those Jimmy Dean frozen sausage and biscuits up there and cook 'em on a single gas burner up there When he wasn't cooking, he was running the burner to keep it warm in there.

I could have bought that stand from him for $500, but didn't. Wished I would have now. His legs were made from drill stem, and he had an angled ladder with handrails welded up that led up to the box. It was also insulated with custom glass windows on all four sides. The inside was 6x6x7. It was a Taj Mahal of deer stands.

Damnit, I regret not buying that thing we he got out of deer hunting.

Sounds more like he'll have 3 limits instead of 1

In 2-3000 years, they're gonna be pretty rusty.

Twin girls due in October...

If I get a chance to hunt, and that’s a big if, it probably won’t happen until 2020. Fingers crossed I get at least one hunt this season in that thing! If not it should last for years to come. Maybe one of my girls can even take a deer from it down the road.

You might find water pools by the door with that solid floor. I would try to plan for a place for the water to drain. I like the setup with the porch area to enter.

Good suggestion. I’m sure if something like that happens we’ll just drill a hole or 2 in the floor to let it drain.
