But is it really true that the Lakers would put themselves in a position where they couldn't sign AD the following year? Would they really use this summer to spend themselves out of the ability to sign AD next year? I know that LeBron isn't getting any younger, but I wonder how those decisions would play out.
Ask yourself, is Lebron going to tolerate another season of developmental guys and one year vets that barely move the needle in the toughest conference as a 35-year-old?
Ask yourself, why would AD and Rich be putting up such a stink if they thought it would be easy to simply walk to LA in a season?

the Durant thing is huge
he can just opt in and rehab on GSWs cap
then make his move next year

But would they really be able to do it? Kyrie and Kawhi aren't going to the Lakers. Who would they get that would put them in a situation where they couldn't clear the space for AD?
I'm no cap expert, but couldn't the Lakers add a couple of good pieces this summer that would make the Lakers competitive (as they were before LeBron's injury) and still have the ability to get AD next year?
The flip side of that argument is that it would be really weird for Kuzma, Ball, and Ingram to play with LeBron on the Lakers next season -- very awkward. It might lead to another level of dysfunction.

I thought BOS couldn't make the trade until after Kyrie opts in?

Technically, he didn’t opt in. They still need to wait for his contract to expire.

Lebron coukdnt wsit a few months before he started taking his girlfriend AD out for dinner dates and then sending his mouthpiece Rich Paul to demand the trade. But Lakers fans believe he is gonna wait 2 whole years for AD? I call BS.

Just came here to say F the Lakers....

Ainge needs to call Davis bluff. Lebron might not even be on the Lakers next year. Hell he might say Yo AD I'm coming to Boston.

they always had to do that
now they now he's opting out, they can agree to the trade, draft for the pels, then execute after the league year changes on 7/1
before he announced he would not opt in, they could not agree to a trade
