Is there any better poetry in country music right now than Turnpike Troubadours?

I’ve tried to listen to them. They are generic and unoriginal.

And I’m a huge fan of Texas music and Texas-type music.

Bring the downvotes, fanboys.

I enjoy most of their stuff. I'm not in love with House Fire but it's ok.

7 & 7 and Ringing In The Year are genius

I know Lori loves them

I really enjoy the story telling/growth of Lori & Jimmy from album to album. You just don't see that anymore like we did in the 60s/70s.

Jason Isbell is also writing some pretty good stuff. Turnpike troubadours is solid writing also.

There's really no comparison between the two. Jason Isbell is an exponentially better songwriter. They're not even on the same songwriting plane. Turnpike Troubadours is a watered down Randy Rogers Band.

Me-stinks (JMHO) Verlon Thompson trumps them with country lyrics.

TT is a decent party band...and that’s it.

They don’t move the needle as songwriters.
