Pound for pound, part for part, model for model, year for year - Toyota/Lexus and it isn't really all that close (possibly excepting your high volume Honda compact and mid-sized cars the Civic and Accord).

90s Tacoma is the only answer

Comparing a Camry to BMW 5 series makes this argument more about value than being well made. The parts on the 5 series are better, but are they twice as good as the cost would imply? I guess that's up to each buyer to decide.

Acura , when it first came out, was dead-solid reliable as well.

I own a brand new 2016 Subaru Outback fully loaded with the bigger engine...and its badass.
And I'm not a lesbian
Same ground clearance as a Silverado, AWD, over 1,000 lbs lighter, super nice interior on the new ones, etc.
I love my damn car. But, I admit lots of lesbos drive them.

A mechanic, who I trust a lot and has 3+ decades of experience, once told me that "If everyone drove a Subaru, I'd be out of a job".

Nothing wrong with that, but you'll just have to keep changing those parts of you are strange and actually want to keep the vehicle for a while.
I drive and maintain vehicles until someone hits me and totals them. Usually every 5-7 years.
I like tinkering in the shop and I don't wanna feel bad when I rake the shite out of the sides in the woods. Or go bombing down a pipeline.

Sorry for the late reply.
It has always had the oil changed between 4-5,000 miles. Never had to add any in between changes. That is what anyone that messes with cars, considers (not burning oil). It's a great engine, and still runs like a top. I don't drive it much anymore though. Maybe 5,000 miles per year, during hunting season,or goofing off in the woods.
If you leave oil in a vehicle, for a shitload of miles, any vehicle will burn some of it,because the oil has started breaking down.

Now that this got bumped, the lesbian comment was a total joke. I just needed to deflect because I'm not driving a vehicle I confess to probably be more reliable than my own. Seriously though, don't you think they could corner the market if they just paid a little more attention to styling?

Umm, I already said I don't drive a Subaru.

Well they could have, seeing they have the blueprints. I hate when a company tries to under preform.
I hate that they change for change's sake.
