Here's the menu.

We don't have anything like this in Augusta, Georgia. Nobody serves turtle soup. In fact, I've only seen turtle for sale 3 times in the 40 years I've lived here.

There is a Cajun restaurant in town, but my own version of Cajun cooking is 100% better.

I like Prudhomme's cooking from his recipes that I've imitated, but most of his food would make my wife violently ill. She can't tolerate the tiniest bit of red pepper. Me...I don't know what heartburn is. I've never had it ever.

Even for cajun, there is a much better place - Cochon. K-Paul's does a pretty good lunch service. For dinner - meh.

I haven't eaten there in years, but the last time I was there it was fine. Just a little pricey for that style of food.

While it's not a "bad" choice, there are alternatives. For example, you might try Cochon in the Warehouse District.

I enjoy K-Paul's. The food is usually top notch and it's a fun atmosphere. You're not going to find a new-age menu, but they're consistent.

I have eaten there several times. The last time was right before Christmas. I like it. It is not my absolute favorite in town but the food is very good. The only reason we don't go there more often is that there are so many great restaurants within three or four blocks from there. If you are looking for heavy, spicy, Cajun food, this is the place. He knows how to do it.

The food is solid for what it is. I enjoy it. Your wife might not enjoy it, though, with the red pepper issue.

Consistent may be the best word to describe it. Consistently good, not out of this world amazing but good.

You guys don't know how lucky you are. You actually have a cuisine.

There is no cuisine where I live. Nothing the Augusta restaurant scene has to offer beats just eating at home.

If K-Paul's gave the same consideration and care to vegetables as it does to proteins and starches, I'd call it the best reaurant I've ever visited. It consistently delivers the strongest, most thrilling flavors I've experienced in a restaurant.

You should know that K-Paul's has been shunned by lots of New Orleanians over the years, first as an "outsider" restaurant by a chef who defected from Ella Brennan's fold; and then, after its massive worldwide success and acclaim, as a mere tourist trap beneath the notice of locals.

Their loss.

K-Paul's is massively better than Cochon.

It's a good restaurant and if you're from out of town, you won't leave disappointed but it's certainly not going to blow you away. There are better options but it's still a quality meal.

I'll stop in an grab the courvasier bread pudding sometimes.

The food has gone downhill in the last 10 years or so. Not bad! Just not at the level it once was.

pretty common in NOLA. I love PP. His cookbook is like a right of passage for men learning how to cook in Louisiana.
