Honda There is no other choice Had mine for 6 years only changed the oil - cranks on first pull
can run behind it
Bought mine at Home Depot - Buy the one with the largest motor Don't be afraid of the one with the football helment plastic deck- that thing is harder than steel and guranteed for life

Have snapper for 20 yrs. so I am partial to them, but it's been a long and I know other brands are good also.

Going on 1.5yrs with Honda and absolutely love it. Toula is right, you damn near can run with the thing and still cuts wet grass like a chanp. The dual blade leaves an awesome finish. I got the electric start Honda at Home Depot.

How about wet St Aug? I have a 7hp Toro Super Recycler that isn't worth a shite in wet heavy grass. I wish I could bring it back and get a different brand

I bought a Husqvarna about 2 1/2 years ago and have never been very pleased with it. My next door neighbors Honda will run circles around mine.

I try to not make it a habit of cutting wet but it can. I have centipede.

Last time I used one of those, my Dad would past a bastard across a shite load of blades and me and my brothers took turns pushing that crap. Oh, no motor on that sucker.

What type of grass u cutting
Posted on 9/5/14 at 8:49 pm to Hammertime
Yeah my wife got a toro super recycler when she got her first house before we got married.
I will second that it doesn't cut shite wet.
I am waiting for it to die so I can go get a better mower. #1 on my list is a wider cut.

Troy-bilt with HONDA motor at Lowe's. Paid $250+tax. Live in the woods and it cuts the thick and/or wet stuff like a champ. Has bag and also mulches.

Same with a Kohler engine, biggest piece of crap

I have this one as well. It will handle the wet stuff quite well and starts on the first pull every time. Whatever you buy, make sure it has a Honda motor.

I have a snapper that my neighbor gave me when he moved. It was brand new. He paid over 600 for it. It is nice. Starts right up. The desk height is easy to adjust. Rear wheel drive and very fast
Problem though
If the grass is wet and a bit thick, the grass gets caught between the blade and the desk, clogging it up and stalling the mower. I guess I can put the side dis charge on to fix this or the rear bagger. I like to mulch though
I have owned severeal mowers in the past. Cheep to higher end. All started and ran fine. Never had engine troubles with murray, Husq, or the snapper. Only difference is and the one thing I look for the speed. Faster it goes quicker I can get done. So, to me, speed of the mower is the deciding factor for me

I've got a sears, with a briggs and stratton 7hp. Just changed out the self propel on it, about 50 bucks. Changed it myself. Still have to push the mfer somewhat if the grass is high. Will not get another, and looking for a small rider, or maybe a rear wheel drive.

The Honda from Home Depot. Going on 5 years with mine. Changed the oil once and the spark plug this year. Cranks on first pull every time.

All mowers will do this but the Honda mowers have two blades that are said to produce finer clippings for increased mulching, more bagging capacity, etc. The $600 HRR series uses "QuadraCut" while the $1000 HRX series uses "MicroCut". I thought it was just a gimmick but after the first year with just the HRR, I can definitely tell a difference. If the mower starts getting clogged when wet, I can stop, raise the front of the mower, and let it self clear. My previous mowers I would have to completely stop the engine, prop up the mower, and use a screw driver to get the grass out. I just mowed my grass this morning while wet. I did have to cut a few half-width rows in the wettest part, but 99% of the yard was power walking full width rows
