I didn’t want him hired here because he was a huge risk. He’s also the guy who I think we’ll be the most sorry about not hiring when it’s all said and done. And it’s all anecdotal, but when listening to local radio guys who have been around the program at ULL, they all say the same thing. He is extremely detailed. Every aspect of the program was thought about and planned out. Everything to nutrition, what time they ate, conditioning, discipline, practices, etc, etc. It reminded them of how Saban runs his program. He seems to have the formula. Whether he is able to surround himself with the right coordinators and let them coach will be the key.

He seems to have great potential, bearing all the intangibles but is completely untested at this level. Very little real resume to go on. Could be a great could be a flop. Could depend on the program, he’s in or not.

Clocked Dabo in the jaw after the NC game for fricking with his play calling. Dabos momma stopped sending him the annual Christmas fruitcake and was promptly let go. From there he led the Cajuns to 4 successful seasons after Hudspeth left. Family guy, Sabanite. Unproven at the P5 level but he’s a good one imo.

Boring offense. He made a couple head scratcher decisions every game.

He is a good and well organized coach. His players love him and play hard.

Good hire for FL.

That’s pure conjecture and frankly, selling your own program short. To each their own, though.

He coached under Saban. He’s probably another Dooley, Muschamp, Mcelwain(sp?), Pruitt, etc.

Dooley, Pruitt and Muschamp were all great recruiters under Saban like Napier.

The knock on him from people who actually attended ULL games said they questioned some of his in game decisions. He won but it wasn't always pretty. Other than that, yall may have a homerun. Who knows? Who would have thought Mullen would have flamed out at UF?

Seems like a solid coach but never done it at a big program. He's going to be boom or bust for you guys

This. He could be the guy that compete with Kirby over the next decade or he is shark humper part 2.

Like I said before he's a wildcard, but he's got a tremendous pedigree...Everybody in the sport that talks about him (Which is the people that matter) gushes and raves about how prepared and detail oriented (yes, Saban like) he is, that he just has "it"...He's a gamble, but he has a higher ceiling than any other coach that was realistically on the market.

How about this? Drinkwitz did beat Napier twice when Drinkwitz was the HC at Appalachian State? That might have been enough for LSU to turn away from hiring him.

Some context: many LSU fans became fixated on Riley as the next HC. As such, many others were only seen for their shortcomings.

In the case of Napier his only HC experience was at ULL. The examples of HCs moving from lower levels to higher levels (P5) and finding success are not many.

I liked Napier. He's sustained success at ULL. I think he's a more complete HC than many. I think he'll dominate FL state recruiting.

Just like Drinkwitz is doing at Mizzou! Never happened before. Recruiting at a very high level. Have you notice that? Check out Mizzou past recruiting classes. None are even close to this coming class Drinkwitz is bringing in. Even 2023 is a great start.

I'm not convinced with Napier because ULL has always had talent but never a financial commitment behind the football program until Napier got there. Being the second place football program in Louisiana will still net you a lot of talent. Also, during Napier's time at ULL he had one starting QB. And, Napier's offenses averaged 31 points per game. I'd expect more points in a conference where he had the talent advantage. Also, it remains to be seen if Napier can develop more than one QB.
