Help me pick out a new Lever Action Rifle.

I’ve never had a lever action before so I have no experience with them.
Some of the parameters:
- Must have side loading gate.
- I want it to be in 357mag / 38spc because I’m well setup for reloading that caliber.
- Not sure if I want a large loop or the standard size
- budget is around a thousand.
Thanks.

Just to piggyback, has anyone heard anything about when/if Ruger Marlins will be available. I'm holding off on my lever action until I have a chance to check them out.

I’ve had a Winchester 94 since 1980, 30-30cal. Always been solid, well balanced, easy to point, & durable

30-30 is the way to go. Henry or a Marlin 336 is what you seek.

Not sure if quality has come back, but these went to shite after Remington bought them. I know Ruger owns them now so maybe quality is back.

The pistol caliber leverguns can be finicky on feeding depending upon OAL length and bullet shape.
An older "JM" stamped Marlin 1894 is your best bet, but they bring a premium.
The Henry stuff is the best current production, but the triggers are heavy.

My Marlin .444 is my favorite deer rifle.
They don't twitch an ear when you squeeze off.

I believe I read that the 1895sbl would be available mid December, other 1895 models coming about a month later.

Their Instagram has a post of the first Ruger made marlin rifle. They’re expecting to have some hit the shelves mid Dec

Inherited my grandfather's Marlin 35 Remington. Awesome rifle.

I have a Marlin in 30-30. Still haven’t found a brand of ammo that I can confidently and reliably group. Mfer is all over the place. The worst gun purchase I ever made. So…. Maybe your caliber will be better?

What kind of group are you trying to get out of it just curious? I have three of them and have shot a ton more and they are not bolt gun accuracy. But they have all shot 3-4in groups. Have you adjusted the barrel band screw any?. With overtorque you could be getting some strain on the barrel causing inaccuracies.

my dad has the Henry in this caliber it’s so much fun to shoot. It’s a tube loader though which is easy enough. Beautiful carbine and so well made
I imagine though that finding one right now might be a challenge

Find yourself a pre-64 Winchester model 88 in .308.

I'm waiting on the Henry 45-70 sidegate to come in stock at Sportsman's warehouse. I have an alert set and missed it last time.

I’m in the same boat but want the 45-70
Love the Henry Brass but I hate the stupid engravings on the wood and can’t find any aftermarket options
