1. Days has been better than expected on offense, but what he has shown on defense may be better. He looks to have become and elite defender and is doing so without fouling, which was probably his biggest knock coming into the season. In hindsight some of that could be contributed to them giving him some tough assignments on teams that could not defend at all.

2. Defense rotation is amazing, and we are still a young team(in terms of time playing together). That will only get better as we go. It’s enough to blow yourself mind when you compare them to the rotation of the 20-21 team.

3. Gaines has made a leap, and I still believe he is well below his ceiling. His development reminds me some of Tryus Thomas, where he is really just still learning the game and once he really starts seeing the ball go in the basket watch out.

4. The stamina of our teams under Wade has always been impressive, rotating eight makes it down right scary. We just look like we are wearing teams down quickly with extended ball pressure. Add to that we either make them run in transition, or make them guard if the early offense isn’t there. We are just flat out working teams to death on both ends.

5. There are lineups out there that have the potential to make us better we have used sparingly. First one that comes to mind is Gaines, Days, Eason, Fudge and either off guard. That could be an elite defensive lineup, and if they can find a half way decent rhythm offensively watch out. Fudge has also shown the ability to guard the 2 so far which means we could play him at the 2 with Days, Reid and Eason in the front court(which we have done a couple of times). If this becomes possible, we can also play some 3 guard lineups too since we can give two of them a blow at the same time.

I know this is long, but I really see infinitely more upside than downside with this team so far. Some here say we need to shoot the three better, which I don’t think is going to be a huge deal if we don’t. But if we get to the 40% clip those ranters are searching for, I don’t know how we lose.

Well that’s enough SS pumping for one night,
BootUp and Geaux Tigers

What a fun team to watch. Finally a team that plays D.

It's early, but this is one of my favorite Tiger teams of the WW era.

We haven’t had this kind of depth since the SEC championship team when Smart, Days and Emmitt came off the bench to provide a spark. With Gaines, Eason and Fudge this group is able to effect the game in even more ways than that bunch.

38.6% from 3 baw. And that’s with a number of bench guys throwing up bricks in late game blow outs.

We fine from 3.

We look damn good. I've only watched a few other teams play so far, but I like what I see with this squad.

The defense was spectacular tonight. Absolutely lockdown the entire night. Lots of good movement, and rotating. Love the way our guys hands are always active. Always tipping a pass, or causing a turnover. I liked how we were closing in on 3 pointers as well tonight. Definitely looked better than years past. Wade is the freakin man!

I'm curious to see how they handle full count press on offense against a good defensive team.

Imagine the depth of Adam Miller is healthy. Scary to think about. That one will nag me all year a bit.

Gaines has developed a three point shot. Wilkenson has developed a three point shot and can make free throws this year. We will always have the 1-2 elite players surrounded by a bunch of 4 star players who play their hearts out.

It was good but not the entire night. Several times we never got back and 22 had plenty of easy baskets. Wade was losing his shite.

Belmont moved the ball really well. A better team with the same skills will challenge us well.

They're relentless, man. What struck me last night was how they reminded me of the 1999 team, not in terms of play style, but how overwhelmingly more athletic they look than the competition.

I'm not sure what to make of these mid-majors we've played and how their seasons will turn out, but we've certainly dominated them which isn't something we have always been able to say about early season games.

There were a few lapses for sure. Compared to how we defended the last 3 seasons, our defense has been absolutely suffocating.

Two things I’ll add that I saw at the game that I’ll not sure you’ll notice on tv, several times I saw our guys actually find the offensive guy on the back side when a shot went up, actually block him out properly, and the ball hit the ground on that backside b/c of the great blockout. That’s a coaches dream to block out well enough the ball hits the ground. I saw Days do it, Pinson, Fudge and Gaines

The defense was really good and it was great to see the early adjustments on defense. Belmont came out with very good ball movement and had the team on their heels the first few possessions but the team made adjustments and locked them down after that.

I’m just worried about nights like the Liberty game.

LSU was shooting 24% with 6:30 mins left, losing 52-47.

LSU ended out scoring/out working Liberty 28-6 in those crucial final mins but I just worry they’ll be nights where nothing is falling against equally active/hustling tournament teams.

Every team has off nights. Nobody is that consistent from 3.

That's what is so promising about this team. Defense doesn't have to take a night off.

The big question mark is what will happen to our half court offense and shooting when we play better athletes. We’ve looked good against subpar competition, so we passed the first test.

That's all well and good. But the source of the heightened optimism you're seeing is that in previous years we'd make teams like Belmont, Liberty, or even Texas State, look like offensive juggernauts. We're clamping down, rotating, boxing out and doing all of the little things to handily dominate these teams instead of letting them hang around, or even losing to them.

Team outside of Days shoots 31%. And the competition hasn’t even gotten good yet

Murray has been really good & wouldn’t hate to see shots increase

Pinson was great last night, but has been terrible up until then. Both of them really need to pick up the slack

Pinson 26%
Eason 27%
Gaines 30%
Wilkinson 28%
