How many candidates would have to turn us down before we got far enough down the list to hire Mark Stoops? At least 3 or 4?
I have faith in Woodward, but the Alleva blunder in 2016 that got us Orgeron still looms large. If we’re all expecting a hero and we get another zero, we will be the laughing stock of the college football world.

You act as if my emotional reaction to a hire actually influences the product on the field. Melt and proclaim how much you care, you do you. Since I have no input on the hire, I'll be an adult and see how things shake out before I start hating our new coach.

Doucet sounds like pencil neck discussing the Trump Russian dossier...

Can do in one year at LSU what took him nine years to do at Kentucky? What kind of BS is that? James Franklin took less time to make freaking Vanderbilt relevant, and then he went to Penn State, and while they've been decent, he certainly hasn't done what people were expecting.
What it took nine years to build at Kentucky, is still an average product, at best. They play in that awful division, and the two "biggest" wins they have this year are against Florida and LSU, who are both awful, as it turns out.
Just look at these unimpressive scores they've posted against some weak competition:
vs Missouri W 35-28
vs Chattanooga w 28-23
@ South Carolina w 16-10
vs Florida w 20-13
They at least beat LSU convincingly, but that 7 point win over Florida looks like crap now, considering LSU beat them by the same margin, then Kentucky went on a 3 game losing streak, including a 31-17 loss to an MSU team that LSU beat on the road and also a loss to perennially bad Tennessee. They followed that up with a "meh" 17 point win over hapless Vanderbilt, before finally blowing out powerhouse New Mexico State this past Saturday.
Their non conference slate consists of ULM, Chattanooga, NMSU, and Louisville. WOW. What a MAGICAL season Mark Stoops has put together after nine years on the job...
If he ended up being the guy, Woodward wouldn't be able to show his face in public.

He’s a decent/good coach, but he won’t be LSU’s hire.
Too consistently mediocre/bad on the offensive side of the ball.
And yes, if by chance he is the hire, it would be an absolute fanbase melt and warranted.

He would be better than some on the list. He is a coach we need right now. He will stabilize program. Playoffs accept more teams. LSU would make playoffs constantly.

Some may disagree, but I think you’re on point. Why hire someone who could make us exceptional when we could just hire a guy who’ll make us consistently ok?
And he runs a paw paw, Les Miles-style offense? Sign. Him. Up.

Saban was not a sexy hire when he came to LSU.

But it’d be sort of like your wife just getting you warm socks for Christmas when you asked for socks and a PS5.
She would be getting divorce papers in the mail the next day.
