Looking to purchase some Waygu beef. Steaks and maybe a brisket. Anyone here have a great source they've used in the past and would recommend? Thanks in advance.

I bought some Japanese A5 BMS 12 from Grand Western Steak and would recommend them.

I have purchased from Snake River Farms and gotten very good products.
They do ship everything frozen with dry ice(except dry-aged items but I have no experience with that) so if that is a problem or deal-breaker that is not your place.

ETA: To clarify they sell American Wagyu

Where are you located? There are several places in the Birmingham area that have it in stock.

Is that a steak or a slab of marble?

I've purchased from crowd cow multiple times and turned out very good no issues and sometimes they have specials on ends if you aren't trying to pay the full price

Also have purchased from riviera seafood club and was perfect also ( great place to get Toro and scallops for sushi)

Near Prattville. Very interested in buying where I can actually see what I'm getting before purchasing. The online places bring a certain amount of apprehension, especially considering the price you pay.

Never had American or Australian. Hell, I've only had Waygu twice, both times it was A5 Japanese and at restaurants. I've tried to describe the taste and texture to people that's never had it. Very difficult to do. The flavor and texture is like nothing I've ever had before.

If you can find it, try Akaushi. Or you can order some from HeartBrand. Akaushi is one of the four breeds classified as Wagyu and it's taking off in Texas. Really interesting reads out there how they can breed with almost any other cow and increase the offsprings prime and choice cuts by 20-30%. No other cow can claim that. More places here are serving it.

Not sure about Prattville or Montgomery, but I’d think between there and Auburn, someone would have it.

In Bham, NY Butcher Shop has it as does Piggly Wiggly. The Pig carries Snake River Farms. Not sure what NY carries, but it is significantly better and priced accordingly.
