My brother is learning first hand about the vaccine requirement for employment debacle.

My brother is plant maintenance supervisor in a facility that produces the undercarriages for some CAT equipment and diesel locomotives. The vaccine requirement for employment in his facility takes effect 12/4/21. This morning three of his four remaining plant electricians gave their notice this week they will be leaving no later than 12/4/21. He’s had an opening for a plant electrician he’s been trying to fill for 6 months and now he’s gonna need to find three more…..he’s thinking about retiring. Lol!

Why the frick are these people quitting and not forcing the companies to fire them. Call the bluff
ETA: I know that electricians have the kind of in demand job that they can tell a company to GFY but still.

I'm fairly certain the auto industry would collapse if every car manufacturer and the suppliers enforced the vaccine requirement.

They may be documenting their departures as being forced due the vaccine requirements just in case there’s class action lawsuits.

It's rotting from the top down, and skilled tradesmen are simply saying f*CK no.

Spot on.
A certain auto manufacturer in NE Alabama is already dealing with staffing issues. Apparently they are offering $1k bonuses to employees who recommend someone who ultimately gets hired on.
They are also waiting on the OSHA mandate to clear so they can determine their next move. The big problem they will face now is that they are a very woke company, who has made diversity such a priority in hiring that it may come back to bite them in the arse. Probably half of the workforce is a demographic that is not inclined to take the shot (and I agree with them).
Oh well.

They are paying ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS $450K for break laws. Imagine what a class action will settle for screwing CITIZENS out of jobs.

quote:Curious - is this plant owned by CAT or just does contract fulfillment for CAT? I wonder is it an edict rolling down from CAT or an independent decision by the plant. And why are these companies jumping through hoops before all of this crap is settled in court? One could argue that the Biden admin is just totally incompetent and couldn't figure out cause and effect if you drew it up on a white board or, is this crazy like a fox with the intent is to destroy every business in its path until they reach the ultimate goal of totally destroying the economy.

You have to realize that this is a good thing from the communist’s perspective.

The plant I work for sent out a survey 6 months ago asking who plans to get the vaccine or who has had it.. 30 percent said yes they had it or planned to get it. The company hasn't said a word about the vaccine since. I'm sure if osha wins then they will rubber stamp exemptions.

Are they not paying enough?

They’re jumping through hoops because they’ve been threatened that if they fail to have 100% vaccinated they lose any and all federal contracts. A company like CAT or an auto manufacturer likely relies on a significant % of their annual revenue on government contracts.
